There’s a Guzman in Orange now and I had lunch there yesterday. The California burito was ordinary and their chips suck.
I’ve a mate who is a proponent on sweet chili and sour cream on everything.

That is outrageous. When I went the chips and thick shake were easily the best of any burger chain Ive ever been to. The burger was good but the chips and thick shake were delightful.
Hand cut, with skins on… A little bigger than shoe string. Good level of crunch with a nice buttery, salt flavour.
I really enjoyed five guys, had been meaning to go since it opened in the city and only got there a few weeks back.
Decent burger - massive, good quality toppings and lots to choose from. Fries were great too.
It’s no Ume burger in terms of quality, but it’s way better than any other chain.
Carls Junior ain’t bad compared to other similar FF joints. It’s been there in Bateau Bay for a while now but I haven’t heard of any others opening up anywhere, which I thought would have happened by now. Their initial advertising/marketing campaign was brought out directly from the US and was pretty sexist. That’s part of their branding in the States I believe.
Taco Bell is trash. Easily the worst of every FF place.
It was also announced yesterday that Wendy’s is going to start opening up in Australia in a big way. I remember trying them last time I was in the USA and remember they were pretty good by FF standards. Much bette than Maccas for example. They have square patties which is a bit weird
Wonder if Wendy’s will have an issue with US Wendy’s coming in.
Will there be a Burger King 2.0 court battle?
Anyone got any good work lunch recipes? Generally i’ll fluctuate between:
Sausage rolls (homemade)
Chorizo pasta with eggplant, tomato and basil
wraps
some sort of stir fry
Just getting tired of them all and wanted to try something new.
The missus brought home a 4-pack of Mrs Macs sausage rolls the other day. More flavour in dry-wall.
Next time I do a shop, I’ll be picking up some ingredients for some Sausage rolls, for some easy take to work and easy dinner options. On the menu:
May even play around with a Lamb & Mint/Rosemary Sausage Roll.
Generally my work lunches involve a frozen Woolworths curry, or Spag bol left overs as I usually make enough to feed a small battalion.
I did these a while ago for dinner one night, but I found there was quite a bit of left over filling afterwards.

Ended up just having it for lunch for the next day or two.
that looks really good! We used to get Chorizo from our local coles as they had a deli, still can’t get over how good it was. It was the proper dried stuff. Problem is they closed it down
sausage rolls I usually do my own recipe. Recently did some pork with fennel, grated apple, bit of carrot and the cinnamon. Tasted quite nice!
Also will do tacos with the kids and use the left over pulled pork, avocado crema and coleslaw on rolls/wraps for the next day or two.
https://www.foxandbriar.com/slow-cooker-mexican-pulled-pork-tacos/ (ignore the meat part of this recipe, the one above is FAR better - but the crema goes down nicely.)
If you’ve got a hygienic microwave you can use at work, these only take a short time to re-heat. Just wrap them in a wet paper towel and zap 'em for 30 seconds.
This pad thai is SUPER quick to make the night before and re-heats pretty well the next day too.
It’s the Starbucks of taco’s. Industrialised swill.
I never said they were any good.
Looks phenomenal.
Mrs is away (and vego). Fuck this was satisfying.
Bog average eye fillet from Woolies, but cooked right is just mint. Olive oil and salt. Then finished with garlic, shallot onion and rosemary in the pan with butter.
Pretty glad it was a two pack of steaks for tomorrow!
I’m by no means vego but I only eat red meat once probably every month?
A simple fillet steak in butter and rosemary? So good.
Perfectly done too
I use oregano instead of rosemary on steak.
Rosemary’s for lamb.
