Falling in Asia.
Well despite the last minute heroics by CCM, at the halfway point of the ACLE league stage and the 2/3 point of the ACL2 group stage, things aren’t great.
Australia has dropped from 5th to 6th in the AFC East rankings, being passed by Malaysia, and we are at some risk of being passed by Vietnam - which would mean no entries into ACLE in 2026/27.
Why ??
Well
CCMs 0-1-3 ACLE record isn’t great sitting 11th, and SFC are now 2-0-2.
For Malaysia
Johor Bahru in ACLE is 2-1-1 sitting 4th and Selangor in ACL2 Group H is 2-1-1 in 2nd place
For Vietnam
Nam Dinh in ACL2 Group G is 2-2-0 in 2nd place
Now SFC should have two relatively easy games to finish the group stage and hopefully continue on in the knockout stage, but Nam Dinh might do the same.
Fuck AFC and the bullshit they pulled on us in 2021. Scummy piece of shit org.

Should be an interesting one. If Mariners don’t get something out of this you feel like the top 8 is almost beyond reach.
Realistically this is a match to try to give a good account of ourselves more than anything. The Japanese champs vs a team that is only just playing into any sort of form having just won its first match since May.
