What purpose do they serve? Or are they just decorative

I always thought they provided a reference point for refs to judge whether a players was in their own half for offside calls but that could just be a random thought that turned into fact in my mind.
Ah yeah that’s a good theory, I never thought of that. Makes sense that you’d see it more often in park vs pro football then too
That was always my assumption.
At least they put them in the correct place.
The number of times I’ve done a field inspection and they’re placed at the intersection of the halfway and side lines outnumbers them being in the correct position.
bbq party hard or go home! Fans from local town Castellammare di Stabia (region of Naples) club Juve Stabia celebrare promotion from third division Serie C into… Serie B!
Juve Stabia, who have already at this stage qualified for the promotion ended up wining 3-2 against Picerno on the day a week prior away at Benevento, the squad and fans already celebrated the moment when it really happened.
Since winning the league Leverkusen have had 3 draws in all comps. To get them they’ve scored equalisers in:
90+6
90+7
89
There’s a fine line between on the brink and elite mentality
Still undefeated.
3 league games to go, also into the final of the DFB Pokal (against Kaiserslautern, who are battling relegation in 2. Bundesliga), plus in the semi’s of the Europa League against Fuck Roma. Incredible stuff.
Kelong!
Another tournament between European seasons, I think this will piss a lot of clubs off
This is probably going to set up a raging inferno between the clubs and FIFA.
Nah they’re a part of it and will get paid. That wont stop them whinging at some point about the number of games they had to play in the season though.
If it does go ahead, clubs will probably just send B/youth teams over.
I may be wrong, but I think that could be a sanctionable offence.
It really is ridiculous, although it’s FIFA playing into the hands of that whole “Super League” concept floated a few years ago. With the amount of tournaments floating around, it’s just starting to saturate the market
FIFA wants to muscle UEFA out of that tasty club pie
And UEFA wants to prevent the European Super League from getting off the ground by excessively expanding their own competitions. It’s ridiculous.
FIFA to up the ante by having 200 teams in the next world cup & the tournament going for months & months & UEFA expanding the Champions League to include the top 10 teams in every division of every country. Eventually world governments will discard the rotation the Earth & make the calendar year 3000 days to fit all of the football in.
Typical of FIFA though to try and promote this sort of nonsense, when what they really should be doing is incentivising the Townsville Cup.
They haven’t lost $20 billion yet. They were pushing for $250m/PA from my understanding, so they are out $250m and counting by what FIFA thought they could get, or less than that if they kept taking the same amount EA was paying them.
