Round 1 - Western Sydney v Sydney FC- 19/10/24

After another long, cold, boring, off-season WE’RE BACK!

Won’t be going unfortunately as my budgets tighter than a Ducks Arse, but will be watching on from home on what should be a ‘Super Saturday’ of opening round football.

Costa v Mata. I think we know who will come out on top.

Can’t wait for Mata and Costa to actually only be on the pitch together for about a minute in total.

Has Mata actually made it on the field for them so far?

Fuck it’s been a long off-season.

The big question will be answered.

Is Mata slower than ninkovic?

I’m particularly enjoying the league teaser that P+ has played a few times (e.g. during the NT v China broadcast last week) with McBreen spunking his load live on air when JK scored the late derby winner.

Hook that shit into my veins (no, not McBreens jizz)

Yeah he’s played in a few of their friendlies but hasn’t made 90 minutes yet. I think he’ll get around 65 minutes then they’ll bring Kraev on. He’s the one that’s been missing from their pre-season games.

Seen a number of A-league adverts… getting very excited for the start of the season.

Looking forward to all my hopes and dreams to come crashing down in the first 15 minutes of the derby.

Fuck I love football

I’m going to go for a 2-1 away win. Wanderers to start well, then goals from Costa and Klimala to earn us the chocolates. Additionally, Wanderers won’t get any closer than this game to beating us all season.

Really excited to get back into the stands to watch us play some hopefully exciting football. That said, I am still a bit worried about our defence and given how cagey derbies can be that might be our undoing here.

Bought my tickets yesterday and noticed that the section above the Cove where I usually sit is now GA. I don’t remember there ever being GA at a Parra derby.

Anyone got tickets up stairs above away active in category D “White & Black”
im assuming its first in best dressed as there’s no seat numbers on my ticket

i must have purchased in the same area, are you able to print your tickets out yet or do they only allow this feature to work a day or so out from the game?

It’s usually a day before from memory

I hate it, but i’m predicting a 1-0 scrappy loss by us. Wanderers score in the first 10 min as we try to settle and we dominate but just can’t make the ball go into the net.

Looks like it’ll be a sell out or close to it, still several days to go and it looks 95% sold out. Hard to tell given the top section above us is GA but there can’t be that many left as our actual away allocation sold out pretty quickly. Also good move to have the away section behind the goals so it can actually be seen on TV instead of hidden away in the corner. Hope the Cove are behind the goals…

Huge game to start the season which I hate, but with the ACL2 performances I’m fairly confident we will at least put a half decent attacking performance together. I know some of the pre-season friendlies aren’t the best indicators but we’re scoring a heap of goals. I’m glad that Klimala has banged in a few too which should get his confidence up. We just have so much quality it’s hard to think we won’t get at least one or two.

A loss isn’t a disaster so early in the season which will be my coping strategy if we lose, and Wests have traditionally had good starts to the season in recent years before completely falling off.

But I think both sides will be rusty and it’ll be a 1-1 draw.

I’m not really sure what to make of Wests this season either. Mata might be good or he might be a complete flop - haven’t really been keeping up with their other signing but they didn’t look that good in the Australia Cup (but then neither did we).

We are gambler’s favourites, Sportsbet has us at $2.10 and Wests for $2.87 which sounds about right.

Dougie, Ouahim, Lolley, Klimala against that defence? Are you kidding me?

Easy win
