Frustrating half. Lots of possession, not enough penetration. Lolley is the only player providing that at the moment, but at least his touch is much better than it has been recently.
We got to try and do more to combat Zawada in our defensive line. I know he’s a target man, but he’s pretty much doing as he pleases.
Once again we’re fine at the 80% of football games that don’t actually determine results. Just not good enough in either box.
There’s a lotta talk lately about wanting to see Sega come in for Caceres, he’s really not someone I see fixing that big issue RE: moving the ball quicker though. Both love to jink, the difference is Sega will just lose it way more often.
Wood can’t play the #9 role in this formation. He’s a decent poacher but his general play is extremely poor. Maybe Kucharski deserves a chance, but starting him in the derby would be a huge, huge call.
Caceres is such a key player, most attacks go through him - and he just slows the game down, does a few turns, and then either loses the ball or passes backwards. He is a liability most games, but not sure we have anyone better from the youth team that we could promote.
Not really disagreeing with you about Sega, haven’t seen enough of him though. More just venting about Caceres.
Wood not being able to play 9 in this formation is a coaching failure (maybe he doesn’t apply himself and want to learn), maybe if we started Kucharksi earlier when ALF was out of form or when first injured or even today we’d know but nah lb at lw
On Sega we know what Caceres does and it’s pretty clear he doesn’t offer a lot of end product as a number 10 except ball retention, I’ll take a kid losing the ball more trying to attack than a near 30 year old always making a safe pass and lazily pressing
You want young players to try things. Caceres can beat three players and 99% of the time will just lay up a simple pass for someone. I’m fucking done with it, honestly. If only Segecic was in the right environment to try things and occasionally be unsuccessful.
I’ve watched a lot of football and cannot remember a time when a good coach went okay lost my most creative player, let me put two left backs on the field that’ll work
Yeah agreed. I’m a huge Papi fan but still think he shone in the 4-4-2 box where keeping it in tight spaces and being creative was necessary while we tried to pass teams to death. We definitely need someone in this system who can play it forward quicker and get the wingers (Lolley esp.) 1 on 1.
