Round 25 - Sydney FC vs Western Sydney - 13/4/24

It’s not for another voltaren commercial I can’t move.

@Mr2046 makes good points so happy to leave it there and let karma do it’s thing. Would love to know if that guy was involved in any of the recent sit downs with Lederer though.

I assumed it was Lolley that put in the cross as he’d been doing it all night, but I just realised it was Caceras.

An observation from Bay 32… The sides really wanted to join in We are Sydney last night as the team came out. But people only know the slower version and so we get out of sync with the Cove starting it off at the faster tempo and it dies off.

It would be good I reckon to just keep one speed for that song to make it easier for the sides to join in.

Also the kooch being involved in the build up play from the back…

Just rewatched the full replay, because why wouldn’t I?

For some reason in the stadium I thought their equaliser was much earlier in stoppage time. Even though watching back I knew what was about to come, I still found myself thinking with 97’ on the clock “how on earth did we win this?”.

On our way out of the stadium my missus needed to take a piss, so I waited for her in the concourse. Wave after wave of “this city is ours” and “fuck you Western Sydney scum” being belted out, not just from actives, but all types of people. Reminded me of the first SCG derby where we pinched it at the death, and it felt like the entire stadium was chanting Forza Sydney FC deep in the bowels of the O’Reilly stand.

Hope they have CCTV of the morons that spray painted “Westie Youth” and “Fuck the Cove” all over the Tibby Cotter bridge. Lock them up along with old mate salute-thrower.

If there’s one thing that is actually good about the paramount era, it’s these alternative angle, or multi angle shorts.

Quick and easy way to build content.

Been a long time since there’s been a violent goal celebration like that. Blood spilled, cramps felt, joints knocked.

It should be noted that they slipped through several times & twice hit the post. It’s not the dumbest tactical setup I’ve ever seen.

It’s nice that the Voltaren people filmed the ad during a Wanderers home game, really capturing the electric atmosphere and strong support the Wanderers receive.

Once again we inflict another pyschological hammer blow to those guys from over there. The mental sigh of relief they must have been feeling when they actually managed to score thinking they were going to get something from the game only to have once again mentally destroyed by us & our forever gloating is something to behold.

In many ways this is much better than the 4-1 drubbing earlier in the season.

Forza Sydney FC.

Surprisingly enough, I had a quick skim of Mack’s post match report on their forum, it wasn’t too bad. Even indicated that we deservedly won which I thought was interesting.

The scary part is they got two shots off the post. If things had gone the other way, we’d be having a very different conversation here.

Both teams spurned good chances, though. On another day, Fabio could have, and perhaps should have, had a hat-trick.

It was one of those games that could have very easily wound up 5-4.

One surely? The shocking miss in the first half. The 2nd half one was ruled offside (although not necessarily confirmed by VAR, looked mighty close to me without looking t it that closely).

Although the 2nd one was called offside if it had gone in I suspect the hated var would have awarded a goal.
