Round 6 - Sydney FC vs Perth - 2/12/23

Pava isn’t even the best GK in his family.
Gus Hoesfloot is the best young GK we have on the books and he’s far too young and nowhere near ready.

This country really needs to stop hero worshipping someone who does something in a penalty shootout every now and then.

So we’re now 3 pts behind Macarthur, who themselves could go as high as 2nd tomorrow.

So, in my mind, we’re basically coming 3rd at the moment.

Ties our record.

33 goal attempts (per flashscores) might be a record for SFC

All our flags and banners are owned by the collective, tifos are generally left in the stadium for someone else to deal with.

Got home earlier than I normally do (but alas it’s not because I’ve popped into the pub on the way home, missed the last train and had to rely on the Nightrider. Door to door an hour. Not too bad.

And yes. I was blasting “Summer Rain” - Belinda Carlisle on the M5 home, singing at the top of my voice. 120km/h, right hand lane, windows down belting out the chrous.

Weird night/game though. I know we won, didn’t feel like a win. Between us and Perth being bang average, the weather, the delay, the DJ busting through all the songs about rain and weather he could find, and the (typical) dogshit performance from Faghani, was a memorably unmemorable evening.

What a post.

We scored - thrice - and whilst we didnt, the pitch got stormed on.

You should do a post next week about if Fabio scores a hat-trick Fagani will retire (or something morally pleasing)

Glad we won but problem is we need to create 10 chances to score one goal.

And yet when we concede it’s often the opponents get 2-3 chances and convert one.

Do they do video debriefing after games? Uffie needs to call out players who took a low percentage shot straight at the keeper while a tap in was there to be had. Has happened every game recently.

Bobo couldn’t have scored with the lack of service Fabio is getting.

Two garbage teams having some fun in the rain, game felt weird to watch.

The start of the second half had the vibe of like a post season charity match - where all systems were gone and they just played however they like.

Fabio did a few bits of nice trickery but ultimately he’s not to standard for this league. Same as Brattan, Grant and Redders - too slow and complacent.

there was a really glaring Mak one in the first half. starting to feel bad to fabio, he is getting into good positions everyone just prefers to go themselves

Two examples from last night:

Mak shoots wide of the target instead of setting up Fabio for a near certain tap in.

Lolley shoots straight at the keeper instead of setting up Fabio:

And what does Fabio on in return? Sets up a great opportunity to give the team our first home win this season:

There were two chances Kucharski fluffed during the derby in similar fashion. I’d say there were a couple of these instances in most of our games this season.

As we saw in the Aus Cup campaign Fabio can finish when set up. He could score 10 goals a season in any other team that knows how to set up their target man instead of go for a low percentage shot at a difficult angle straight at the keeper.

Way more fun for people to say he is shit tbh. He is quality, we are just trash at times.

Even during last season our import wingers would almost always try to do it themselves.
I remember cursing at just that on many occasion.

If you look at our goals this year, he’s either made a good pass in the buildup or has made a good run to take a defender away

I’m not sure why Lolley wouldn’t shoot in his situation, on his good foot, from the usual position he scores from rather than risking a pass which could fall too near to keeper or defender, or be too heavy. Mak definitely a low percentage shot there but the pass could be tricky too. Once he’s in the area he definitely gets the tunnel vision for goal.

Although the goal itself was a bit scrappy the way it dribbled past Cook and over the line, Glassons celebration in front of the Cove was a highlight.

If I’m not mistaken, that’s his first for the senior team (or did he get one in the cup?), and you could see how pumped he was pointing to the badge etc.

Well in son, first of many more I hope.

Yeah that was his first goal for the club at senior level.

I really liked what Glasson brought last night.

I did laugh during that celebration because it was an absolutely god awful goal and the celebration was so disproportionately large lol

Needed more Siuuuuuuuu.

Debut goal, in front of the Cove.

If you can’t celebrate that you need to check yourself, imo.
