Round 8 - Western United vs Sydney FC - 1/12/2019

That was an absolute joke. Geelong can fuck off forever. Not going back there again. Bogan AFL cunts.

According to the common conspiracy, their tactics have been successful. Treat the soccer fans like shit so they won’t want to turn up again to our sacred AFL ground.

So impressed with Brattan yesterday. When he signed I assumed we’d lose a bit defensively and gain a bit going forward. It seemed that was how it was the first few games but he was fantastic yesterday, reading the play and stepping up to shut them down or intercept.

When Kosta and ALF finally work each other out we are going to demolish this league.

So there were five evictions yesterday:

Anyone able to post the article for those that haven’t subscribed?

Haha how many drinks do you reckon you had before they kicked you out, soymac?

Good to see the club getting involved. Was one of the worst away days ever. That joint is a fucking joke and Geeeeeee-long is bleak as fuck. At least Penrith has that historic Krispy Kreme. They clearly don’t know what they are doing that stadium. “PROTECT THE SEATS!!!”.

I bought an Active area ticket and incurred significant costs to attend. An active ticket comes with certain benefits, if the Stadium Trust are unable to deliver the product I paid for presumably they will refund me?

Sydney FC have condemned “overzealous” security at GMHBA Stadium after a number of their fans were evicted during Sunday’s clash with Western United.

Sydney FC faithful also complained on Twitter about security staff manning the away supporters’ bay during the game.

There were claims some supporters from The Cove, Sydney’s active support group, were reproached for standing in the area with a number moved out of the enclosure or from the ground entirely.

On Monday, stadium management confirmed there had been five evictions for anti-social behaviour stadium-wide and two arrests for intoxication.

Sydney FC backed their fans, saying they had been “mistreated” and the evictions were “avoidable”.

“Over 200 dedicated supporters travelled to Geelong to support our club at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday afternoon,” they said in a statement.

"Having investigated the situation and spoken to Sydney FC representatives on the ground, we have been informed of a number of avoidable evictions of our fans by overzealous security who bypassed advice from our Sydney FC supporter marshals.

"Nobody condones anti-social behaviour however we strongly believe the situation could have been handled in a better way.

"To see our fans mistreated is disappointing and we are working with the Hyundai A-League to investigate.

“We have also spoken to Western United and to the stadium to ask them to review their procedures with regard to supporter treatment.”

The away supporters bay – in a corner of GMHBA Stadium – was assigned several security guards throughout the match.

Early in the game, this was largely in the form of staff standing at the ends of the bay, though at times there were also security guards in the bay itself.

“The Kardinia Park Stadium Trust confirm there were a number of evictions for anti-social behaviour at yesterday’s A-League match at GMHBA Stadium,” trust chief executive Gerard Griffin said in a statement.

"Stadium management worked with Sydney FC representatives, Victoria Police and MA Security throughout this process.

“The priority of the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust is to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all fans and anti-social behaviour at any event held at the Stadium will not be tolerated.”

FFA have been contacted for comment with the body to review post-match reports on Monday.

A-League newcomers Western United have nine home games locked in at GMHBA Stadium this season, along with four at Ballarat’s Mars Stadium.

Looooool. I appeared to have bought 13-15 beers yesterday (says ANZ). Hilariously I didnt get approached by security at any time. I became “obnoxious” according to my partner - her proof is my chanting “You’re just a fat Peter Dutton” and “Besart Berisha your mother’s not good”.

Geelong can get fucked based on all of that; they’re not turning up anyway, their stadium is a shithole and they’re taking up a place that could have gone to Wollongong or Canberra.

Hope WU grow some balls (brains?), and move to a different ground in Western Melb now. It’s embarassing for the league.

Western United were such a huge fucking mistake. Can’t believe Canberra and Wollongong were denied a spot in the league for that abortion of a franchise.

I’ll dance on that club’s grave

“Besart Berisha your mother’s not good”.

Still too early to write them off. Strange that Diamante hasn’t brought out more Italo-Australian ‘neutrals’ and Kone, for their Hellenic cousins. Both have had top-draw careers, are hugely personable faces for the club and are playing really well. Chuck in a solid Croatian, a former Turkish international and a former Celtic star (Socceroo), you would have thought football lovers would be coming out in numbers to have a look.

Does it mean that the only foreigners who will work as fan-traps in Australia now have to be at ADP or Robbie Fowler level? If it were only about quality of performance, Ninko’s work would have packed out the SFS already years ago, and Castro’s at Perth.

Hasn’t that always been the case?

In my preseason prediction thread, I predicted WU to have Gold Coast like crowds come seasons end. However, Gold Coast at least offered an excellent away trip and a decent stadium. I’m still yet to see what WU truly offer.
