Watched Corica’s pre-game interview:
Burgess: out because of an 8 day concussion rule
Brattan: out, 5 yellow cards so he’s suspended
Rodwell: out, he is ‘closer’ but not for this game
ALF: may start
My tip is 3-1 to Macarthur.

I just hope we see more of the Retre 2.0 from the last couple of games.
But with Brattan out, that might not happen (if he has to play more of a 6 role)
Would love to see Yazbek slot into the 6 role.
Retre is vastly better higher up the pitch because he doesn’t need to focus on defending (which he does so poorly at 6). Instead, he is liberated to use his dribbling and passing skills and energy to provide links to the attackers.
Great to see this improvement not sure why coaches had us put up with his terrible deep defending for all these years. Not fair on him or us! (see CCM first goal last week with Retre pointing to people to do his marking for him and Burgess - concussed?- ball-watching as his player ran through.)
With Burgess out Mak obviously has to go back to the left, meaning ALF would start at 9 with Woody chomping on the bench.
The only other thing for certain is that there will be an Airing of Grievances towards (in alphabetical order):
I got a lot of problems with those people.
As the all time top scorer in the Non Derby, Wood should start.
Happy festivus to all!
1-week I hear.
.
Start Woody. He likes scoring against those cowbell-ringing Muppets.
1 week or “1 week”?
Yazbek surely has to come back. You’d think Brattan is a big out for us, though I haven’t really rated his form all that much this season. I think it just means we’re going to be more reliant on Mak setting up the play and setting the tempo. For all of Caceres’ tekkers, he’s not that good at either.
So that will make it 45 minutes played in 9 matches.
My Sturridge Challenge remains well and truly alive. Rodwell’s target is 138 minutes. Projected at current rate (as of today), he’ll make 146 minutes, but if you factor in tomorrow, that dips to 130. However just a single 90 minute outing and he’s on the brink of hitting that magical number.
Might be a tighter race than our finals push
If Rodwell’s contract is actually 2 years, and not 1+1 …
Then he’ll be ready for the second season?
We celebrate Xmas eve too… but I’ve got the leave pass to work around it - heaps of prep in the morning, some cold dishes in the fridge before going to the game, then lamb racks in the oven as soon as we get home. Targeting sitting down for dinner by 9.
Murphy’s Law says there’ll be a train strike or something and we’ll get home 10pm to a very angry wife and parents
Culturaly adapt to Orstralian conditions!
if I want to eat pickled herring and pipping hot beetroot soup in 40C heat, then I damn well will!
Fine.
Just do it on the 25th when the rest of us are eating our roast turkey and potatoes and baked ham in 40c. heat.
For us it’s Chicken Soup after Christmas Eve mass followed by chicken sandwiches.
So what were the other two doing at the fish markets?
Something doesn’t add up here!
That’s for Christmas linner.
Glorious day for some football.
