Russia v Ukraine - WWIII or Putin's cliff dive?

Teapot?

They’ve turned into Tim Brook Taylor?

Technically its a samovar, geofencing is pretty basic stuff and can be bypassed with trivial effort.

There’s allegedly a Ukrain fighter pilot who has been nicknamed the Ghost of Kyiv, after he apparently shot down 6 different Russian Jets yesterday.

Not sure how true it is, but if it is that’s pretty impressive.

NoVax dJOKERvic is serbian.

SERIOUS shit,I have a friend living in the region in East Ukraine.Gorvlinka pronounced Horvlinka…I think.

They have been shitting themselves for a while now, awaiting the invasion.Rusian occupiers have cut off home internet. They had to go to a cafe to do their communication

This sounds like some WW2 propaganda type shit.

Yeah if it’s just something some guy posted on twitter, I’m sceptical.

Air attacks in Kyiv.

Yeah, seems unlikely. Would think someone has maybe done 2-3 if anything? In saying that, you’d have a pretty big target rich environment, and if they’re including choppers then maybe?

I’m sure we are all wondering the same thing - “What does Donald Trump think of all this?”

It’s unreal to me how much attention Trump still gets. The media love him and people love talking about him. I hear more about Trump than Biden in the news. Everyone loves a good villain.

I’m starting to think that Putin has underestimated the effort and commitment required to get what he wants out of Ukraine.

First, his army definitely doesn’t have the motivation that the Ukranian armed forces have, some reports are saying that a number of key initiatives (the airport at Kiev and the attack from Belarus for starters) have stalled, if it turns into a meat grinder, he’s going to struggle to maintain even the current lukewarm support he has.

Second, scale, there are 45m people there, 40m+ of them are angry as fuck at the invasion, even if they occupy a country the size of Texas, they’re never going to stamp out armed resistance, especially with western arms and support.

Third, economic impact, the Russian Stock market is in free fall, sanctions will bite especially as other sources of oil and gas make rejecting Russian energy viable. Russia’s economy can’t support the cost of the sustained occupation of an actively resisting country the size of Ukraine.

Putin may well discover that he’s bitten off more than he can chew, not today, but in a few months time.

Also need to take into account how much the Russian forces actually want to be there. There will be a fair few that will understand how unjust what they’re doing is, and how close to Nazi Germany they’re starting to look.

This is pretty much the first conflict, since Vietnam, that’s involved powers with current generations of weapon. Plus Ukraine has had years of preparation and plus, like you said, there’s a shitload more motivation to protect your own homes. Those videos of houses getting hit and men saying goodbye to their loves ones to go fight will just be inflaming the Ukrainian people.

It’s also telling that there’s not been much support for Russia within Ukraine. They’ve definitely alienated a fairly big part of their Russian supporter base within the country.

Hopefully all of this is true and the Ukrainians cause so much damage to the Russians it’s not worth their while

He also has to contend with large numbers of Russians coming out and being very vocal that they are against this. Large protests breaking out in cities around Russia is not the kind of response anyone at the top wants to see.

Seems like the Ghost of Kyiv is haunting the Russians.
