Sack the Board: the Cricket thread I

Was hoping to get World Test Championship final tickets at Lord’s. But first four days sold out already, after one day!

It was pre-sale though, so hopefully more go on sale during the general sale.

Ussie with his first double ton.

I’m bored of the procession of runs, I want to see our spinners get out there and have a go.

Criminal that ch 7 isn’t running picture in picture on both games today.

That’s crazy. Aren’t we playing the Saffas? I’d only guess they will release more after the presale period finishes

Day 1 highlights.

Sri Lankas spin bowling has been horrifically inconsistent. UK abd Smith just having a net session basically. Not been made to work for their runs

Jayasuriya is my kind of bowler. Zero run up, a couple of steps and just lob it down. Beautiful

Not to diminish the achievements of this innings, but when was the last time Sri Lanka gave us a really good Test battle?

They rolled us 3-0 in 2016, and it was a 1-1 drawn series in 2022.

I guess it feels like Sri Lanka haven’t been a power in cricket for a long time, rather than the individual result. This bowling lineup looks incredibly weak.

The most logical thing to do here is to declare with around an hour to go.

What if we just batted on though?
The pitch is flat as fuck so why not put 1000 on the board and be the first team to do so?

Put on a road then bowl us out.

I don’t think our spinners can be worse than them. Should be able to bowl them out twice on this pitch.

That was only the ICC family pre-sale

Not sure what you needed for that.

General sale starts tomorrow 10am GMT you will need a lords account to order and it will be on their site.

I am trying for 5 days.

Cricviz still has draw at 38% (and an SL win at 2%)

Just declare already and get stuck into them before it rains

Yeah, I had access to pre-sale but no luck

The man on the right is an absolute legend with a proper, heroic man’s bat.

The child on the left is a cheap facsimile with a cheaters, oversized, I need it cause I can’t play without it bat.

Seriously, look at the size of Head’s bat. It’s ridiculous.

I’ve still got my father’s gray nic and my gray nic double scoop despite not having played cricket for 25 years. My mate just bought his son a second, locally made, bat for $2k (the first of which was lost in transit by the courier). I couldnt believe how light this new bat was. It felt like balsa wood. It was so light it felt fragile. I’m not sure but it could be that the thickness is required for how light the new bats are or perhaps if theyre just that light, you can make them thicker. One thing is certain though, my old man’s bat wont be used in a competitive match ever again. They dont make em like they used to and the new ones are light years ahead.

Nice to see a modern day player using a traditional manufacturer brand like Gray-Nicolls.
