Semi-Final details and build up thread

A little over playing Victory so often, but at the same time, there isn’t many better feelings than knocking them out of the finals / grand final.

Fuck em. Fire up

Fuck Melbourne and fuck their scumbag fans.

We’re going to lose aren’t we? I’ve been thinking about it and them mob and thug coach are nothing but post season cup specialists. Given resourcing available to him, he’s done fuck all in the league, but always seems to scare a good finals run out of his team. Even our record breaking team of 2017 needed penalties to overcome them once in post cup mode.
In his 5 full seasons in charge of the best run club in the league (though in the past 5 years we’ve moved to challenge this) he’s topped the league once and never ever come close to a 2nd, and I reckon he wouldn’t have gotten that one except that Arnie’s first half season was understandably terrible given he followed the ROT.

But… come finals those cunts are always strong. Scrap the finals I say.

Not confident.

You know what the problem is?

Our flat level motivation creating an even level of performance across the season.

Muscut is a fire & brimestone coach. Melbourne may perform at 75-90% during the season but will lift for the finals.

We just perform at 85-95% during the season and the finals, so if we cop them in fired up mode …

Yep that’s it. That’s what worries me here. He can bully and harangue them into playing well for 3 games, but can’t get a team with guys like Honda, Toivonen, Barbarouses and Antonis within Cooee of top over a full season.
Still a fan of finals series Hilly?

Fuck all this bollocks. We are going to win.

Yeah, I’m not confident. Bring on game day and some booze assisted delusions of grandeur

Less confident about this than subsequently beating Perth in Perth. Tards always step up for finals.

Having said that I think we will be match fit after ACL and have a few players coming into form/fitness (Brosquey, Zullo, Grant, SdJ and Caceres) at the right time. Kogorah has been good to us. Feeling confident. Bimbi and the older lads know how to manage these massive games.

We play away to Ulsan on Tuesday, they play Daegu at home on Wednesday, so one extra day’s rest advantage wiped away by having to fly back. But they will probably rest key players because they have no hope of progressing.

Our non-GF finals record against Victory is terrible. We are 2 from 3 in GFs against them but I can’t recall every knocking them out of an elimination final or semifinal. It’s time to right this wrong.

Melbourne are away in Daegu.

They are too. Hopefully a demoralising loss for them.

They’ll be sending their youth team to Korea, hope we do the same.

Makes me very nervous playing them in the finals.

Unfortunately i’m flying to Melbourne on the Sunday :frowning:

Of course.

I’m not a fan of our teams motivation process.

Melbourne have a far more better attacking style then we do im afraid to say

They have a better counter attacking style.

We are the better team, we just have to be ready for them to sit back, foul all game without yellows, and then counter.

Melbourne are shit but if we make stupid mistakes at the back(I’m looking at you Josh) and gift chances to Barbarousis and Toivonen, then will will pay for it.

We will dominate the game and possession but we will need to make it count.

They have nothing to play for, we do.

Why is no one recalling our dominant performance against them at the SCG earlier this year? Yes it took a late Ninko goal to seal it however we were absolutely all over them for large parts of that match.

We were. But they sit and absorb that pressure then attack on the break and usually score. We can’t concede first, or preferably at all if possible. We held them out most of the game that time. Hopefully we can again.
