Wasn’t Bobo only on a 1 year deal in India?
He is two years older though, and he was never exactly a runner to start with.

We can’t replace him. He is the best striker we have ever had. We better get millions for him
Reads like an agent pumping plus copy paste of DT quotes by the work experience journalist.
Or just a small website making shit up for clicks.
We said that about Bobo though. If we lose him, then I have full faith in SFC being able to find a replacement. I mean we have lifestyle, half decent salary and throw in the fact that we’re one of the few countries with Covid under control (except for Victoria, but no one likes Victoria).
On that note, surely Alf won’t be considering moving to a country with Covid running rampant at this stage. Especially he has a family doesn’t he?
I mean at this very moment he can’t even enter the country because international flights aren’t running, and its unlikely that they’ll start before this season finishes.
Chianese has apparently signed for an Indian club too. I think itll be incredibly difficult to find a replacement with restrictions and I imagine even if borders were opened up or exemptions granted players would be far less willing to leave their families to go to the other side of the world.
If anything I think itll mean Buhagier/Ivanovic/Tilio/Swibel fighting for a spot on the wing or up top (assuming wed play Buhagier or Barbarouses up front) which honestly wouldnt be the worse thing to develop a younger player since our frontline is pretty old.
That’s exactly what I thought. I can’t take news like that seriously. Why would you want to risk a move like that?
Foreign players can’t enter though right? With the border controls in place restricted only to citizens, would we even be able to get a foreign striker in to replace any foreigner who leaves?
The government is looking to get overseas students in aren’t they? Once they do that, I can see other avenues being opened up with organisations having to pay for the two week quarantine period. In any case, if this “move” turns out to be true, then I can’t see it happening till after the season ends in which case we’ll have a bit of time to find a replacement.
I call BS on this whole thing, Alfie loves Sydney by all accounts and his family is happy here.
According to a 17 year old writer on some random website. Is there any reason to believe it’s legit?
In his live on the Sydney FC facebook, he basically said he wants to re-sign more or less. I’d be surprised if he left.
But what if the emerging huge declines in revenue coming into the A League (-40% from Foxtel, -100% from Hyundai and eg NAB) mean, inevitably, players (and the PFA) will have to agree to a substantial cut to player salaries? I would be surprised if players were not talking and worrying about it. Redders already mentioned sacrifices players had made during COVID during his interview. It may get much worse - very sadly. At that point, players like Alf, however much they love Sydney (club and city - in that order) - may still feel the need to have one or more seasons in eg India to build up their savings. Then he may come to SFC as our strikers’ coach! (The Sausage Roll Academy?)
IPL league is pretty short. When Bobo played there, his family stayed behind in Brazil. Assume Alf would do the same. Move family back to blighty, brexit and corona chaos and spend the few months of the season in India by himself. I’ve talked him out of it, right?
I looooooove Alfie and think this is 2% likely but if he left we could find a solution between Buhagiar, Tilio, Swibel and a new signing in a slightly tweaked system. I’d also back to us to sign a replacement considering our form with 9s (Janko into Bobo into Alfie).
2% chance at best.
I have heard that Matt Simon may be available.
Does anyone actually expect the salary cap to be lowered? At best I see it being frozen for a few seasons as I can’t see the PFA agreeing to a wage cut.
I’m more inclined to think that there will be a lowering, temporary suspension or permanent removal of the salary cap floor.
There’s no way we can match that Woy Woy lifestyle.
