Great signing, going to be amazing having him back
Brilliant to have our Bobo back, think he fits perfectly in with giving Trent a proper chance up front and gives us a different option.
Club have played a blinder here getting him under the cap.
Heās undoubtedly older and probably not as good, but when he left he was the best striker the league had ever seen. If heās gone down a few levels heās still better than half the teams starting strikers, and heās just our super sub.
10 goal season for him.
I suspect he is mostly going to be an impact sub and if thatās the case, this is incredible. If heās going to be leading the line as first choice, Iām more wary, but I have faith in Corica to get this right.
I suspect that thatās exactly what they did with Bobo when negotiating his contract with the small amount of cap space that they had remaining.
Can imagine that Bobo was probably keen to retire and have his kids grow up in Australia.
Good news for Trent and Kosta - a bit less pressure on them both. Trent can transition to a starter without being expected to do it all and Kosta can get his finishing boots back on. Also amazing for the younger strikers (Woods, Swibel and Bernie) to work with him close up.
Anything suggesting its not a 1 year deal anywhere? Bobo chasing another yearās deal could be scary if he gets in the zone.
Did you stop watching when Bobo left? It baffling how you could not see how much more ALF offered.
A bit more mobility in exchange for a fraction of the aerial presence, leaving us to struggle much more against teams that sat back playing for the draw or defending a lead? Ultimately resulting in fewer goals?
Saying theyāre not very good at customer service implies they actually had customer service in the first place!
Alfie is a great player but was unsuited to our system (the fact he is so good meant he kept scoring) - how many wasted balls went 30cm over his head? I donāt think heāll be a regular starter but Bobo is a far better fit for the way we play.
We played much better football with ALF. Bobo was utterly reliant on others around him to create, he could barely dribble. He worked with the team we had then. But even then, he couldnāt produce when we needed it most, I donāt think he scored in a finals match for us.
Heās now 37 and we donāt have the creators we had back then.
Heās 35.
Its worth remembering to those complaining about the signing, cap space was limited (a cost of keeping the squad together and eating into alfs wage rather than breaking the squad up). So it was big striker and broken squad or keep the squad and find someone cheap. If we were going to find someone cheap, most likely in a squad role, it made sense to find someone we knew what they could do, would settle easy (he would already know most of the squad and coaching team) and probably gets sold on the lifestyle rather than wages. When you consider that all Bobo makes a lot of sense and theres probably no other safer signing.
Iāve never had an issues thereā¦
If we (as a league) are looking at a few years of austerity and brining up youth, then Bobo may be exactly the type you want rubbing off against your youngsters.
You may want to rephrase that.
Sorry forgot where I was posting
