State Politics Thread (non NSW)

QLD gearing up to uncover a new set of institutional abuse cases in a decade or two. Fucking tory cunts. How do people fall for this shit over and over and over.

They are either diddlers or perfectly happy supporting diddlers for their own personal gain.

Not quite to the level of NSW “lets not register our candidates” incompetence but pretty bad none the less.

Election day in QLD. The libs have been getting pounded for the last couple of weeks - even by Murdoch.

They said on the radio this morning that the number of early voters was close to 50% of the number of registered voters.

A lot of people had already made their mind up, the last week or 2 won’t matter.

The LNP will form Government although they may need the help of the Katter party.

Qld trying really hard to shrug off that Aussie Florida vibe.

Theyve been labor for 8 years…

Not to mention for almost 30 of the last 35.

Few weeks ago in the polls they were down 53.5-47.5 and looking at a wipe out. Now its almost certainly hung parliament. Amazing what Abortion coming into play managed to do.

50% early voters, and the libs refused to give any policy details until Thursday

LNP with small majority - 53 or so out of 93. They’ll govern but they won’t be able to go all Campbell Newman, and that’s probably to their benefit (not to mention to the benefit of the people of Queensland).

The sooner we find a way to detach QLD from the continent the better.

There’s a lot to be learned by the Federal Labor party and, to a lesser extent, The Greens as well.
Labor lost or suffered big swings in all of their regional and rural seats.

Get outside of urban Brisbane and there are very little votes for either of those parties. That’s understandable for The Greens given how much mining and farming occurs in those areas but it very clearly shows that Labor’s policies are just not resonating with the people in those regions.

It’s very easy to sit back and say what’s wrong with Queenslanders, what’s wrong with rural and regional voters but that does nothing to address the issue.
Maybe it’s time to sit back and ask why? Could it just be that they have different wants and needs to people who live in the city?

NT and Queensland have now gone to the LNP.
With this current trend the result from the WA election in March next year will be very interesting. There’s no way that the LNP are getting in but a sizeable swing to them should be very concerning for Federal Labor.

I really do agree with that.

Weren’t Labor in power for about a decade anyway? Australian voters will often look for a change around that time, anyway. So its not massively surprising to see LNP get up regardless.

Queensland finally embracing daylight savings and winding clocks back 70 years.
