Streets of our town - the Sydney thread

They just do the two don’t they? I never rated them, thought they’re too acidic. The chicken is beautiful though, especially paired with the blue cheese sauce and some mac and cheese

It’s still there and was there a couple of months and the burgers were nicer there than than the North Sydney store I tried last week. I think the fact the place is so shiny that it ruins the vibe.

Although totally agree about people questioning Mary Newtown bathroom and the like but…

Is spot on.

We had belles in melbourne before the 20/21 GF. We didnt get burgers, we ordered chicken and all the sides. It turned out to be the highlight of that night. I didnt realise there was one in sydney. Ill be checking it out.

I tried Paddy Chan this week, Irish Chinese take away at Kensington. 4-in-1 box that includes fried rice, chips, fried chicken and curry sauce. Its exactly what you think it is, greasy, salty and delicious. The perfect cure for a hangover. I felt disgusted with myself after I finished it but ever since I have been craving it. Its also made me nostalgic for the Aussie Chinese take away that we used to get as kids that just doesn’t seem to be around any more. There are definitely cheap Chinese take aways around but they’re shit compared to the ones I remember from my youth.

I found myself dipping toast in the left over extra bought tub of sauce.

The addiction had to be cut quickly.

Dangerous day to be a iced cold pint on a rooftop bar…

I was walking past… sounds far more dramatic than it actually was

I’m guessing @Paulska is probably the best to answer this question but why are they closing the beaches for the bits of tar that are washing up?
I mean surely the stuff isn’t more dangerous than the 200kg+ of coke that washed up and they didn’t close the beaches for that.

I just look at it like Blue Bottles blowing ashore.

Because it’s highly toxic, and they don’t know where the source was/still is

Pretty much what rhys said. That stuff will be toxic and while its there in those balls, there will be other stuff there as well that hasnt coagulated. The difference is that cocaine dissolves and thus dilutes, the same way as when fish pee and poop. Whereas hydrocarbons wil float on the surface and stick to whoever is there. The potential for absorption or ingestion would be high.

The risk of cancer is probably low from exposure, but thryll have to monitor water quality for a while

Have their confirmed its tar balls?

I enjoyed the conspiracy theories and whackjobs opinions on social media.

Yep they have. Was writing on my phone before so was limited in what I was writing, but like I said above, the assumption would be that while some of the tar has created little balls, the general water will be fairly contaminated with hydrocarbons that may not be properly visible to the naked eye. I’d assume there may be a chance that other crap is also present, including volatile organic carbons that can be highly carcinogenic and could create a vapor above the water that would be small, but still potentially harmful.

Throw in the fact that kids or dogs walking along may play with them, eat them etc.

Apparently there is a bomb threat going on at Sydney airport at the moment. An Air NZ plane has been isolated with the passengers still on board

Worst thing about it is you know it’s a hoax but the authorities have to treat it as being real.

The flight delays that will extend from this will fuck so many people over not just today but also tomorrow because late flights will be cancelled tonight.

When it comes to bombs, I’d rather the authorities treat it like a real bomb everytime and not just shrug it off as a hoax…

For sure.

I’m just angry at some fuckwit that has inconvenienced thousands of people for shits and giggles.

If they find out who it was then they should be punished as if it was a real bomb.
You just know that they’re getting off on mental health grounds though.

Unless they’re from a region of the globe that’s east and south of Turkey and west of India.

Nah, the Israeli’s are getting away with murder these days. No need for the mental health defence.

Oh, you’re taking about the other ones…

I love this comment:

Sydney Airport referred Daily Mail Australia to NSW Police, who said they were aware of the reports but declined to comment

NSW Police have little to no authority over what really happens at the airport. The AFP will offload most incidents to NSW Police (or whatever state Police an airports in) because they CBF processing and dealing with drunks on planes (which is the bast majority of arrests they’ll make).

A bomb hoax they’ll pull rank on however.

AFP hold the juristiction at all commercial airports in Australia. I would love the look on the NSW Police media spokespersons face when contacted. It’ll be “Fuck if I know”.
