Restaurant recs near Martin place? Parents want somewhere “relaxing” for when they are in town next week. Mr Wong was going to be it, but solidly booked out.

Any particular food type or budget?
At least one decent vego option for the wife. Otherwise Mr wong ish budget, doesn’t need to be crazy though.
The city is annoying for food. It’s either high end, cheap, or nowhere near where you need to actually be.
I went to Indu last year and it was great, and very close to Martin Place. The atmosphere and service feels upscale without being overwhelmingly fine dining. Food is reasonably priced for the CBD and high quality, plus a good cocktail menu. Good vegetarian and vegan options too.
The Spice Room down by Circular is quite good and close to Martin Place if you hop onto the Light Rail.
Spice Temple is a really nice one as well, as is Bistecca. If they want something really crazy, LuMi dinning is out of this world, just a bit further out
Cheers, that had been on the list to check out for a while but skipped my mind.
Been there before with them - excellent food.
LuMi is quite upmarket and well worth a special occasion. Unless money is no option.
Good walks to take the dog within ~2hrs of Sydney?
Getting bored of our usual weekend walks around Centennial Park or Maroubra beach and want to make good use of the long weekend.
-12km max
-minimal stairs/hills (greyhounds don’t mix well)
-not going to be ridiculously rammed (on a long weekend lol)
Edit: paying the puppy dog tax
Used to be a good place at Wentworth Park.
You can try the Cook River walk from Dully all the way to Brighton Le Sands.
The Olympic Park precinct is pretty flat, if you don’t go to that sticking up hilly bit, you can go down to the ferry wharf then to the Newington Armoury & back. That might between 5 and 10 km.
Bay Run
This
Rules that out.
You go at 6am. Like a normal person.
You’re thinking of Malacca Straits. I used to go there back in the day. The one at Broadway is quality too.
That place is like Parramatta Road if everyone was wearing active wear.
There was definitely a Malaya at King St Wharf. Entrance was one block back and it looked over Darling Harbour. I went there a number of times.
Looks like it is still open:
The Paramatta river walk/run is quite nice, although can sometimes be a bit crazy with bikes. Can start on either side and very open on the actual starting position. Can even go from Gladesville all the way to Parra if you really want to. A few street stretches but they’re minor. If you go from Meadowbank park to Silverwater bridge and back, that’d be around 7-8kms.
Yeah The Malaya is still there. It’s a Sydney institution. My dad started going to the original Malaya back in the 1960s. They moved to King St wharf in the 2000s.
