Sydney fc 2019—2020: back to back

That was a frustrating match. So many chances, particularly in the last 20, but just couldn’t put one away.

Couple of great saves by Bledsoe to that kept us in the game.

For someone with a 99.25 atar & a scholarship to Harvard, Amy sayer makes some silly decisions on the field

Caitlin Foord has announced on her insta that she won’t be playing for Sydney again this year, pending a move os

Huge loss but good luck to her! Good to see her Kerr and Raso moving to England

Tim Cahill finished her post by announcing she’s signed for Everton.

It’s Raso who’s going to Everton. Foord was linked to Arsenal

She’s a superstar but errr… been a little underwhelming this season?

Good news for Princess, should get loads more time.

It’s such a big loss losing Foord. Between Huerta and Princess for the RW spot - feel like Ibini just doesn’t do as well when starting. So effective off the bench though.

like her brother?

Appears as though logarzo is off as well, with Bristol city the destination.

W-League dying a slow death.

Slow? I’d say this is a pretty quick quadruple-whammy (Kerr, Raso, Foord, Logarzo all over ~3 months). But it’s still several levels above where the men’s league is at so it’s hardly a death knell.

A bunch of these players should have done this years ago, and the belated nature of them all jumping in now makes it looks worse than it is.

You can see 8 of our top players being in Europe, and the remainder doing the NWSL/WWL double which has the benefit of being able to get a decent income while still spending half the year back home with family etc.

The quality has been declining year on year for some time. It used to be more watchable than most helter skelter men’s leagues as the pace led to longer periods of possession. But now it seems it’s all about chucking fast teenagers into the deep end regardless of their ability to make decisions and retain the ball.

If they start losing every first XI Matilda (and can’t for a second begrudge them going to Europe to improve in every facet of their profession) then the talent left behind is going to be spread even thinner over the 3 months it runs for.

I don’t know how much an improvement Bristol is, they’re gash and we’d probably have better facilities.

Logarzo needs a proper off-season to recharge more than a move.

Has Foords Arsenal move been confirmed?

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City are fighting for top 2 and champions league. Ideally Kerr and Foord get that. Everton are mid table for Raso. Bristol are bottom scoring only 8 in 12 games and conceding 37, losing 11-1 to Arsenal and 6-1 to Chelsea.

The flip side to all the talent leaving is that we’re producing players for the bigger leagues and with it creating a pipeline of more opportunities for players coming through

… and De Vanna at Fiorentina!

Sad to see so many top players go BUT it looks like there are so many good young women players coming through and they have had very restricted opportunities given the W league is such a short season and W League teams are chock a block full of past and present golden era Matildas who have been at the top since they were 16 or 17 plus excellent import players. So, maybe this will give the next generation a chance to shine, including playing with those good imports and excellent former Matildas like Terri P.

Foord’s Arsenal move confirmed. Good luck to her

We’ve signed Canadian striker Lindsay Agnew

He record suggests she isn’t a striker.

Also, is she here yet? Could she bring out a Letterkenny box set for me?
