Awesome that youre doing your bit for the environment with your choice of vehicle. I have to try and do my bit for the environment in other ways because I’m sure my SRT jeep is part of the problem.

Consider the Pajero Sport? Similar but cheaper.
I don’t think parking it in the garden helps much.
Surely you can get a medium sized SUV from a Japanese or Korean brand for less than 50K?
My dad got a brand new Mazda CX5, mid trim for 45K in March last year. Hyundai Tucson was in a similar range but unavailable.
I think the Isuzu falls outside of the medium SUV category?
I really like the look of the new Kia Seltos. Fairly decent price too (compared to the T-Roc which is nearly 60K). Still want my i30 N though…goddamn.
I’m in the process of replacing the carpet and interior panels in this little guy after i had in storage for a few years. It’s a '73 MG Midget, amazingly fun to drive.
Beautiful, those era MG’s look so good
My ex-girlfriend’s stepfather had a British Racing Green '72 Midget in great condition in Charleston, South Carolina in the mid-90’s. He was part of an MG enthusiast club. Great car in sunny climates.
Years ago I sold my Ford Focus and took over my wife’s Yarris as she was upgrading through her parent’s business. The Yarris was a 8 year old car that had done about 50,000km. Wife was driving it to work, 5 mins away and home and that was it. I took it for my car and then had to service a few months later.
Took it to a Toyota dealership near our house, had it under my name and everything, but it was the same one my wife always took it to. Next thing I know, I get a phone call from Toyota, wanting to speak to my wife. I took it, and was informed they needed to change all 4 break pads and the break pads were so worn, the discs had been wearing and needed to be replaced. Give or take $3000. The kicker was that they couldn’t do it that day, so I would have to pick up the car, take it home and then drop it off a week later.
Now I’ve driven a car with no break pads and very much know what the feel and sound is, it definitely wasn’t an issue on the Yarris. As well, if the discs are that bad, they’re very much ready to fail, which means I can’t be even driving the car. I was pretty pissed, took it to AutoTune in Drummoyne for a second opinion. I even told the guy what Toyota had said. He suggested changing the front to break pads as they were on the way out and wanted to potentially look at my rear two on the next service…
The lines of the 60s and 70s sports cars were so sexy.
Looks like an Austin Healey 100/6 or 3000. MG had the MG A which was very similar styling. The MG Midget was based off the Austin Healey Sprite, with a few design changes along the way.
My new ride, love it.
No way I go back, it’s super convenient to charge and the performance is amazing.
It’s hardly a modest hatchback.
I have a trusty 2013 Focus (manual, not the dreaded powershift dual clutch) - that definitely counts.
Wife doesn’t drive manual and it doesn’t have Android Auto so I’m considering updating, but otherwise it has been pretty much terrific from the day I bought it.
Wanting a new headunit, so you consider buying a whole new car isn’t exactly modest tho.
…a new head unit and an automatic gearbox. And I’ll live without the head unit if need be.
True to my user name I’ve got a modest Suzuki Alto. Cheap to run and service and perfect for narrow inner west streets.
Phew. There would be outrage and dissent otherwise!
My brother has one of these in the UK… tremendous car.
I just got a BMW 330iM…. Not as expensive as the M3 but with similar features but four door so the kids can get in the back
Wife has a brand new Land Rover Discovery sport so she doesn’t like to drive my car as it is “too low”… which’s suits me just fine
I love our Suzuki Swift Sport! Perfect for the inner west and actually fun to drive.
Recently our first grandchild arrived, so have been looking to get something a little bigger. Small SUV or larger hatch…
As it will be parked on the street, under trees, looking to keep the spend at a minimum <50k. The challenge has been to find something that is as fun to drive…
On the MG. When I was in my 20s (in the 80s) had a girlfriend who had a beautiful MG… She even let me drive it, once.
