Ex-Socceroo Stephen Laybutt has passed away. RIP.

Many years ago a mate and I were playing pool at the Iron Duke and these older blokes put a coin on the ledge for next game. We toweled these guys up so they challenged us againā¦ They were nice enough about it but then started asking if we wanted to play for cash. I noticed that there was a shitload of old photos and framed newspaper covers on the walls relating to Roge, Neddy and all that lot and it clicked that the guy we were playing looked exactly like him. We just toweled up Roger Rogerson in pool.
We offered to buy them a round and then exited very quickly. Told my mum and she was ecstatic as sheās a massive true crime buff. Many years later it occured to me that it couldnāt have been him as he was still in jailā¦ Probably just some old bar flies.
TLDR all old white guys look the same.
Anytime you easily beat someone at pool and they offer to play for cash, youāre being played, the answer is always āI only play for fun mateā
