Iâm 36 and I know Lineker as a household name from back in the day, but never saw him play. Only saw him from some old videos my dad brought home once that were top goals and top plays in the 60-90s
strange may be the wrong word⊠I suppose its the same as growing up with Saint and Greavsie and only knowing them as some pissheads on the tele on a saturday lunchtime

Met Lineker (got him to sign an Italia â90 England shirt thatâs still in the bottom drawer) when he was out here with Nagoya Grampus on a pre-season tour. He was in a box, not playing, and I recall jokingly asking him how Marconi Stadium compared to the Nou Camp⊠just as someone hoofed a clearance into the car park and took out a windscreen.
