The Good Times Memories Thread

Let me go see if I they have any PS3 games left and you’re on.

There’s a JB there? Best I had was a Dick Smiths :frowning:

Been here longer than I have.

I’ve got 10 minutes left of the Kayo mini of last year’s semi final. Does anyone have a link to Muscat’s resignation press conference?

The 5-4 game, what a fucking roller coaster that was. The post-game pitch invasion by the Marinators at the end was rather amusing.

The original Amazing Scenes game. Friday night vs the Jets, crappy weather, dour game, Ruben gets sent off with 15 minutes to go, think the game is going to end up a depressing draw when the Silver Dragon pops up in injury time with the winner in front of the Cove. I swear I still have bruising on my lower legs from falling over the seats that night.

Our first ever win in Melbourne, 2-0 including an Aloisi screamer, remember hugging Dogga during injury time with tears in his eyes.

Pre-season game vs Blacktown Demons. Brian McFadden comes on with 20 minutes to go, we sing he’s a shit Ronan Keating, a fat Robbie Williams so he runs over and flips us off. I think it was Dom who also pointed out that he was wearing #23 that night so technically Slowey and Dan had his number tattooed on them.

The first season of the Youth Team. The CB pairing of Jurban and Haydar (aka Glass-eater-vich). Bulut coming on with the orange boots at Sutherland, Adan giving him stick about it so he runs all that way over to us to fist pump after scoring a goal. The fat ginger from Perth we nicknamed Glazed Ham. The Grand Final where Adelaide put out a team featuring Michael Fucking Valkanis and we still bossed them.

The game vs Perth at Parramatta. The former SCC members showing up with their bed sheet banner with beers that looked more like slices of toast. The Aloisi goal that went through the side netting and nearly didn’t count. Watching one of the locals go fully sick and roll their car outside the ground at full time.

The Valentines Day Massacre. Unbelievable nerves pre-game, then thinking we were fucked when Corica went off injured inside 20 minutes. I remember when Aloisi went on the break towards goal he had Brosque to his right, I was screaming “Give it to Brosque” as he winds up for the shot and then buries it. Post-game function in the SCG Noble stand was fun, everyone getting hyped up after someone said that Robbie Kruse ended up with a broken ankle after the McFlynn tackle.

Sydney Polish Knobs.

2010 Grand Final. Les and his blue suit. The offside and immediate response from Brosque/Bridge. The Clank Penalty. The march back to the pub post-game. Helping Jimmy the Greek chain smoke his cigars. Endless renditions of we are the champions.

Fence collapses both at the SFS and Newcastle after Juho Makela scored. Also, remember how quickly the Makela chant took off after that game? Was it Tommy Silver with the shark hat?

The Smeltz winner at the derby in Parramatta.

Breakfast daquaris at the casino in Brisbane before Roar away game. Staying in that dodgy backpackers near Suncorp stadium. Caddy stealing Jaza’s bed on night and attempting to blockade the door with the bar fridge in the room.

Slowey getting so drunk at Gold Coast Away (think it was the second time up there) he got punted within 5 minutes of kick off. Stretch limos to the game. Simon turning up dressed as a sheikh for some reason. The origin of the Hot Nerd nickname.

National Service in Adelaide. Watching drink Jubal eat his kebab and the alfoil wrapping at 2am on Hindley St, Adelaide before staggering back to his hotel like a zombie from the Walking Dead.

First ever game in Townsville, including the fans who painted themselves with automotive paint and complained about not being able to wash it out for days afterwards. The NQ Fans and their verbatim Rangers chants.

Perth Away in 2008, one of the hottest games I remember every going to. Someone (think it was Les) won a bottle of white wine at the Glory pub pre-game so we took turns downing it outside the ground. We ended up stealing shade cloth from one of the temporary stands at the old stadium to get some relief from the sun.

The battle of the Hopetoun. Tards attacking the pub in Melbourne in 2009 with a couple of computers and a pint of piss (I think most of that landed on Damo, who was celebrating his birthday that trip).

Sangria of Hope.

The hundreds of hours we put into the tifos in 2009-10 season (fuckups henceforth known as “Doing a Scooper”)

Getting 12 texts within 2 minutes while at Wellington Away letting me know that Fox Sports caught me picking my nose at half time on the telecast.

That has got to be one of the funniest days I’ve had at a game!

Can’t remember the player but there was that youth game in Sydney where Victory had another African player, the whole cove singing “decaf Kofi, you’re just a decaf Kofi,” that and doing the running up and down the sideline behind the linesman before we got told off by security.

One of my favourite youth games was down in Melbourne, good old Nomadi were being racist so a security guard went over, gathered all in a circle made them take a knee while he spoke to them about their behaviour.

Funnily, as a Mariners’ fanmost of my good time memories involve SFC.

The 4-5 loss at Gosford. Eventhough we lost, it was one of the most enjoyable games to watch.
The 7-2 (revenge for many defeats) also at Gosford.
A win at the death at the Football Stadium in the rain when a Spenny strike took a deflection for a massive loop over Bolton to score.

But probably my best good time memory was in the first season when SFC first came to Gosford and both sets of fans gathered in the Kendall bar in the leagues club before the game and sang against and with each other.
I remember starting the “We all hate Kevin Muscat” chant that nearly brought the roof down.

Season 1 had so much optimism.

Valentine’s Day and then winning the GF in Melbourne a month or so later. Probably the greatest few weeks of my footballing life.

Speaking of good times and great memories, the A-League facebook page is going to be streaming the 5-4 Mariners game at 7pm tonight.

Ripped off, I was expecting the whole match.

The highlights was cool though too, but I hadn’t seen the full thing since it was happening live and was looking forward to reliving the whole match.

FIFA is posting full matches from past world cups on YouTube. Just watched France v Brazil from 2006 and that second half is just a joy to watch.

Speaking of good times, here’s Ninko’s 5 best moments in a Sky Blue shirt.

Can’t go past this tifo at a sold out home derby.

One of my best memories was that game. Sitting on the 2nd tier with my 3ish year old son. He got a Sydney FC icepack bag thing with his membership. When we won and it was hysterical he was leaning over the railing with the bag screaming “Sydney FC do you remember this?” referring to the bag. Seemed like a fairly ultra move at the time.
