The greatest moral challenge of our generation thread

[sarcasm]
Even if they are skeptics, there’s plenty of arguments to do something about it (I’m not saying that the skeptics would listen to any of them though)…

  1. Major economies are reducing their coal/gas consumption, so Australia needs to develop something else to sell when fossil fuel loses value. At various points in history the wealth of countries was determined by the value of commodities that are not worth a lot now: salt? Spices? Tulips? Etc

  2. Renewables is a perfect vehicle for industry to make money - Australia is bloody hot and sunny and we also get a lot of wind down South… why wouldn’t you stimulate new investment and raise capital which is subsidised by international carbon credits?

  3. If the scientists are right, we’ll keep having to spend a few $b a year to put out fires and rebuild… those $b will come from Govt raising taxes!

  4. Those $b will be spent very inefficiently… why not get a piece of that action and make returns on long term capital rather than pay out taxes that will go to the greenies and socialists that live in the areas that are going up in flames or to the new Govt Agencies that have money to piss away?

Etc etc

Cafe’s should just refuse the cooked units who request a takeaway cup and are going to drink it there.

I don’t often buy takeaway coffees because, environmental vandalism apart, I’ve realised that coffee tastes and feels shit coming out of those throwaway abominations. What short of shitcunt would deliberately decide to fork out for an inferior experience?

You know what I don’t get?

We used to didn’t want to have a takeaway coffee every five fucking minutes. People used to just drink coffee out of coffee cups.

Why did that change?

Take away coffee used to be fucking shite and home made coffee is usually shit. Coffee culture has boomed in Australia over the last 15 or so years. Its awesome, i love the coffee here, its also great for the local economy, the more money going to local business instead of fucking Nestle, Gloria Jeans, Starbucks, etc. the better. The waste is a massive issue though.

I decided a few years ago not to buy coffee in takeaway cups and my quality of life has improved as a result. I almost always have a cup in my bag which is much nicer to drink out of than the takeaway ones, and if I don’t I’ll find 15+ minutes to sit for a coffee.

By the way you lousy, no good drug addicts, coffee sucks!

Whata shane that hes had to auction it in the first place

Not trying to start a punfest, just wonder if that one in the pic is really it. They only get given the one so they’re usually pretty ratty looking after a few years.

Nah they can be replaced, I’m sure? It’s why Steve Waugh’s became so iconic.

You use to get a ‘cap’ every game.

Warne mainly wore a flappy hat

She’s going to be totally destroyed but fair play to her for going out while flying too close to the sun like this.

Let’s be honest, it’s the way many of us would dream of quitting. our jobs.

Because they ended up playing so many more tests the caps were taking apart, in the '00s they brought in a new rule where you got a second physical cap after 100 tests.
