The La Liga Thread

As long as they dont get another red card.

Espanol v Barcelona - Catalan derby , while celebrating winning la liga, pitch invasion and they all had to bolt for the change rooms. I don’t think anyone got hurt, not a very good look for Espanol ultras.
Police seemed to struggle to get it back under control.

Looks like they aren’t going to suffer any sporting consequences for the $7m cash for the referees.

Watching Segunda Alcorcon V Racing Santander.

I enjoy comparing and contrasting with Australia. Alcorcon have a 5100 seat stadium , have spent many years in Segunda.

Thier website- under their logo says - something like—we are not under receivership…

I hope we can run a successful a Segunda…

Conversely Racing is having 15-20k home crowds …

Real Madrid 58
Girona. 56
Barcelona. 50
Atletico Mad 48

Real play Girona today. I think it’s 04.30 sun Sydney time.

Girona have a 14,500 stadium and I think they are part owned by the city group.

Evil old money vs evil new money, an inspiring battle.

I just checked on renos at el bernebau, there’s a huge very deep hole with 20pc of the pitch missing.

They have a system where the pitch is in long slabs that slide across and get stacked underground! The cost would have to be astronomical.

There’s a video, I assume you can find it on YouTube by now, that shows how the proposed system was going to work.
The slabs of turf are stored underground, similar to a carpark, where they’re exposed to UV lights so that they grow while they’re being stored.
It’s an unbelievable concept/design and yes, the cost would’ve been astronomical.

Cool design for concerts, you stash the pitch. Also hang a curtain across centreline, build 2 grandstands backing onto it. A basketball court and tennis court. Etc

Last spot for promotion to Primera.
First leg
Oviedo 1- EspaƱyol 0

To be decided Sunday evening (Monday am Sydney time)
if it’s a draw higher team goes up. (EspaƱyol )

Racing Santander needed 1pt from last two matches to make playoffs, we botched it…

A few on here have shares in Oviedo?

Malaga promoted!

I was going to drive back from Albufeira to Torremolinos, dropping off the car at the airport.

Luckily, I didn’t after watching the scenes there.

Bernabeu stadium, after spending gazillions on fancy retractable pitch, re vamp etc etc.

Neighbours have complained about noise and they have cancelled all concerts til spring 2025.

Going to spend more money on acoustic ’ aislamiento’.

Imagine living next to a stadium and complaining it can get loud…

Went to the Bernabeu in May for the last game of the league season. I could not believe how underwhelming that stadium was. There is nothing to it at all. Just a concrete shell with a field. Hardly any concessions, no real evidence Real Madrid even play their, aside from 1 club badge on the outside. No real modern features aside from the roof, nothing.

And as an acoustic engineer, not sure what they were expecting with noise when the stadium is completely open at the sides. The metal grills on the facade would be lucky to keep the rain out, let alone the noise in.

Madrid derby suspended for 15 min due to punters throwing lighters and stuff on pitch cause keeper was celebrating a goal.

Heated debate as to who was at fault. Made me think about pissy pants in our shameful incident …

Ultimately , you should really be responsible for your own behaviour. ( Supporters)

I went to the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona this week to watch the CL game against Brest. Renovations at Camp Nou really are taking a long time. The Olympic stadium, while functional, is awful for watching football due to the running track and low rake. To make it worse, it felt like the only passion was from the away fans. I didn’t realise that Barca had banned ultras from attending games. There was an occasional (clap clap) Barca! I expected more from them.

The swimming pool near the Olympic stadium is unreal. Decent options at the bar too.

Great photo. Fucking love Barcelona (the city, not the team).

Barca are a shambles.

Can Barcelona Register Dani Olmo? Here’s What We Know | beIN SPORTS

The stakes are extraordinarily high. Should Barcelona fail to secure the registrations, Olmo could activate a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for free, while still being entitled to claim his salary through 2030. This would not only represent a sporting loss but also a financial disaster. The club would face a double burden: compensating Olmo’s wages and continuing to pay the $49.6 million transfer fee owed to Leipzig.

Unreal. What kind of fucking idiots think that’s ever going to be part of a good plan?

Unchecked levels of arrogance, honestly. They were always bailed out when they overspent previously, up until a few years ago when they had to offload Messi to lighten the wage bill. It didn’t last long for them to screw up again, did it?
