MCLaren should have put team orders in 2-3 races ago when it became apparent that Max was vulnerable.

Team orders absolutely make sense. It’s a team sport. Doing your job for the team is what you ought to do. Even Schumi played tail gunner for Eddie Irvine in 1999 after his own campaign was ruined by breaking his leg at Silverstone.

They probably needed to make certain that Norris knew he would not be default number one if he ended up winning the title (which is usually what would happen). Piastri could be good enough to reverse the trend next year. Piastri’s temperament is better and he’s making less mistakes with a bit more experience. Piastri also had bad luck earlier in the season and could be much closer to Norris without those strategy mistakes.
As @hillbilly said, right decision, probably a few races too late.
Shame we don’t get to watch the English/Norris fans get wound up about the non-favouritism anymore though
Don’t worry. If Norris loses by less than 10 points, Piastri will suddenly be the selfish cheating Aussie again. Never mind all the mistakes Norris has made halfway during the season, or the fact Verstappen benefitted from deliberately crashing into Norris in Austria.
It could get messy too as it seems Stella and Brown may be headed for a clash over this.
Max to Aston Martin in 2026?
Obviously this rumour finds its base from Adrian Newey going there next year but it isn’t completely unbelievable.
Alonso is under contract until the end of 2026 but will be 45 midway through that season. I could see Lawrence Stroll paying out tge last year of his contract to get Max in.
Colapinto red flagged FP1?
I believe Max is quite loyal to Helmut. There is a fair bit of friction between him and Horner though

Nasty, nasty crash. Good to see everyone is okay from that one.
As for the F1 race, the best team job Piastri can do is to actually beat Leclerc, who is only 24 points behind Norris at the moment. A win for Leclerc could easily wipe a huge chunk of that advantage in one fell swoop.
I hope they swapped insurance details after that
