Sainz and Perez have done well there :joy::joy::joy::joy:

Fucking yes for Oscar.

That was the drive of a future World Champion.

Bizarre from Sainz. He was never ever getting around Leclerc at turn 2. Just wait behind him and then get a run out of the corner. Sticking his nose past Leclerc’s rear wing just compromised him out of the corner when Perez was always likely to be close.

Also what was incredibly stupid was that Sainz and Perez’s avoidable DNFs mean that Leclerc took less points out of Verstappen and Norris.

Agreed, terrible driving by Sainz.

I’d love to hear Ferrari’s instructions in the lead up though.

Perez got his front wheel on the inside of Sainz rear, way too close - have to feel it’s his fault there. Sainz on the radio having no idea is either brilliant acting or he really had no clue he was there.

Also, I think this race perfectly sums up why Charles LeClerc won’t be a World Champion.
He had a 6-8 second lead when he took his stop. He then let Oscar through on the inside at turn 1 without putting up any kind of fight.
Contrast that to Oscar’s drive.

No wonder Ferrari have brought Lewis in.

Incredible drive from Piastri but I think Leclerc didn’t handle the hards terribly well. I still don’t know how he lost four seconds around the pit stop sequence. It can’t have all been the undercut attempt.

Woot. That crash also massive for Papaya in the WCC

I don’t get it either.
It wasn’t a slow stop and Oscar was under pressure for that lap so the undercut shouldn’t have been possible.
It all came down to LeClerc not having that “racing blood” that all the Champions have.
He’s too nice.

Piastri is an alien. To soak up that amount of pressure for so long at that age, is quite freakish.

Definitely impressive. Albeit helps the Papaya had a good pace advantage down the main straight.

On first blush, that looks to be Perez drifting into Sainz …

Mad defence from Piastri!

Not one single inside front lockup from Piastri - kid has a great touch on the brakes

And some of those defences into Turn 1 were brilliant, perfect lines just staying out of the fence.

There are a lot of woulda, coulda, shouldas, in Motorsport but if it wasn’t for the disqualification and being taken out by teammates McLaughlin “would” have won the title.
Still was 1st Penske driver for the 2nd year.

Incredible drive from Oscar, that overtake was incredible.

Apparently Piastri went against team orders in doing that lunge pass on Leclerc. After cooking his mediums in the first stint, Tom Stallard wanted Piastri to nurse the new hards in carefully. Piastri was of the opinion it was now or never.

Wasn’t the LeClerc one stop win due to him driving through the hards going off and they came back?

He did, but I’m not sure that heppaned this time. Leclerc’s hards fell off the cliff in the last five laps last night. If Sainz and Perez didn’t concentrate on each other, Leclerc would’ve probably ended up behind them.

The lols to be had if somehow piastri ends the season ahead of lando

In context with Piastri ignoring his pits advice about the hards.
