Interesting. But context is everything. Stoner’s peak was short, and on fairly dominant bikes. Can’t be fucked looking it up, but Rossi probably raced against Lawson, maybe Spencer in their declining years.

I’ve been watching the bikes since forever. But apart from Rossi, no rider has convinced thst it’s not just the bike.
Lawson and Spencer left an entire generation before Rossi started.
And the point here is not about the bike. The bike good, the bike bad. Under riding the bike, over riding the bike.
The point here is about the pilot on top of the bike. The one that makes it go around the circuit. If that pilot doesn’t want to push the damn thing around at ten tenths then it doesn’t matter how good or bad the bike is.
And takeinf it back to Danny Ricci, he strikes me, like Stoner but for different reasons, as someone that is not driven to push the envelope every time they get on the track. Unlike a Max or a Senna or a Rossi or a Mark Marquez.
The context here is desire. Not the bike or car.
Kevin Schwartz did wonders in shit house Suzukis
Ricciardo and Leclerc are much the same. Both can pull of fantastic drives and incredible overtakes but when it comes time to getting their elbows out then they can go missing. I know he won a World Championship but I’d throw Damon Hill into that same boat.
No way Leclerc should’ve been overtaken by Oscar last weekend. Max, Schumacher, Senna & Prost wouldn’t have let him past.
There’s nothing wrong with being the nice guy and you can have a very successful career doing it but to be the best you need to be ruthless as well.
Marko was already heavily pushing Verstappen even before he achieved that much. Ricciardo was already becoming a #2 at that stage. I don’t blame Ricciardo for jumping out to lead a team at that point. Unfortunately, the other top teams had their seats filled.
In 1995, after the unfortunate events of Adelaide 1994, and with the Bennetons now blessed with the same class-leading Renault powerplants, Hill punted Schumi off several times, but Schumi stormed to the title.
Maybe an autocrat from autocratic regime wasn’t the best choice to lead the FIA.
But the results sure do have their moments!
There’s nothing like 5 replays of the start in the highlights to tell you that this was a race with nothing happening.
Yeah, I watched the first 10 laps and went to bed.
Good drive by Oscar to get on the podium but they really need to change that track. It’s fast becoming another Monaco.
The street tracks generally need jeopardy in rain or SCs to drive them up.
This was the first Singapore GP (of 15) without a SC or VSC flag.
There’s a perfectly good GP circuit up the peninsula in KL no?
Some official complaints being put through for Riccardo’s extra pit for softs purely so he can get fastest lap, ensuring Norris doesn’t get top points.
It might sound like a ridiculous complaint but there’s no way Ricciardo would’ve been given that chance if Verstappen had any chance of getting fastest lap. Red Bull (and anyone else) simply shouldn’t be allowed to have a second team on the grid.
100% correct. RB Jr is claiming they did it purely to give him one more chance at points, if it’s his last race, but it doesn’t take a genius to understand exactly why it was done. If Verstappen wins by 1 point, it’ll definitely be hell to pay and can see them changing the regulations. Would be hard to prove though that they were ordered to do so.
You’ve got to finish in the top 10 to get the point for fastest lap.
He finished 18th.
That excuse doesn’t fly.
Norris lost the extra point because of Dan, that’s the point. As far as I can tell, Norris pretty much needs maximum points for the last few races in the season to have a chance to win
VCARB are saying that it was to give Ricciardo the chance at points though, aren’t they?
Nah just the chance to have a little feather in the cap in his last lap of his last race
If he can still pull out a fastest lap, maybe some other team should pick him up again?
