Verstappen up to his old tricks… twice on the same lap against Norris…

Perez of course coming last
20 seconds now
I can’t see how there can be any complaints about either penalty, especially the second penalty.
Wondering if Red Bull are regretting their decision to keep Perez. He’s a REALLY “interesting” racer and really seems like he races well only when his back is against the wall. He started going ridiculously well when in contract negotiations at the beginning of the year. The moment he signs, it’s downhill. Then when there was talk about them making a decision on Daniel Riccardo, he sort of managed to pep up a bit. Now that the decision is made, he seems to have dropped off a bit and then ends up last in his home GP without even being able to pick up fastest lap.
Carlos Slim’s money and associated sponsorship kept Perez in his seat when Red Bull had that review over the summer break. Red Bull dropping to third in the manufacturer’s race must force their hand now. Horner sounded like he’s had enough.
Forza Ferrari. Would love for them to take the constructors.
Been reported that Carlos Slim will withdraw his Telmex sponsorship of Red Bull. Perez’s days are numbered.
Championship may be blown open this weekend. Verstappen will be starting from the back of the grid after RB made the decision to change his engine again.
Brazil generally has lots of overtaking opportunities, so not an issue if the car has pace (not guaranteed at the moment)
The car probably has pace, but is it going to be difficult to catch up to either the Ferrari’s at this point. Assuming Nando will be fighting it out with the top 3. MV just has to hope he doesn’t get knocked out coming to the front.
The difference in car speed at Interlagos is usually not that great. Verstappen will be lucky to finish top 5 unless it rains or there’s other unusual circumstances.
Would anybody have believed at the start of the season that McLaren and Ferrari would be battling for the lead of this race and the constructors’ title?
I don’t think even Zak Brown or Frederic Vasseur would have thought that.
So Piastri waaaay quicker than Norris in the sprint but has to yield.
Qualifying canned, will be first thing Sunday morning followed by the race 4 hours after it finishes.
And times of race brought forward to avoid possible afternoon storms.
So for us in Sydney
quali now is 9.30pm AEDT
race is 2.30am AEDT
(A really early 7.30am start for the teams, and 12.30pm race)
It might well be a wet day anyway, which means Verstappen isn’t out of the fight for a podium finish.
I also commend the authorities for finally seeing sense and allowed themselves to move the race time forward to give the grand prix the best chance of running the full distance.
I’m only watching through text updates, but Hamilton out in Q1 in wet conditions. I bet Ferrari are just thrilled to still be getting him next year.
