Plus Hamilton is a massive fucking wanker.

Less said about Ricciardo the better, but solid drive from piastri.

Found myself yelling at the telly about McLarens strategy though. No probs with the driver switch, but why was piastri kept out for 30laps with a heavy fuel load, then only 19 laps to the end as fuel ran down? He was keeping a 2 sec gap with lando and le Clerc laps 30-34 and thought for sure they’d bring him in to perhaps undercut them both. Were they worried he’d undercut Norris again? Were they going to pit him when le Clerc did and decided to put all the eggs in the go long basket with both drivers?

So frustrating watching him drift back and then lock up on old tires… Feel like it could’ve been different if they split strategies, could’ve let Norris through again if needed later.

Still, he’s so promising and great maturity. Can’t imagine the guy ever being angry.

Apparently the data from the Ricciardo drive is significantly better than the qualifying data. They were saying he was breaking way to early in qualifying and has a average lowest speed less than Yuki. He’s probably got one or two more races before they’ll seriously start considering letting him go.

He either doesn’t have the confidence in himself to send it, or doesn’t have the confidence in the car. I’m thinking it is the car - given he did well in the RBR testing not that long ago.

If he can’t get into a good car, he should give it away.

Did so well with confidence when he came in last year, but after the broken hand didn’t get back to that level. Now not performing well in comparison to Yuki. Maybe it was major changes to this year’s car, but it certainly seems he’s a confidence driver, which is why he used to be able to break so late. Confidence seems shot now though. Signs are similar to the McLaren years, but hope he can bring it back.

Doesn’t help his cause that Lawson seems ready to jump in. The fact that Perez still seems to be relatively underperforming might help though.

BRAKE - Device used to slow down a vehicle

BREAK - separate or cause to separate into pieces as a result of a blow, shock, or strain

Did Verstappen’s breaks break? or did his brakes break?

Sorry, extreme pedantry interruption, carry on.

They might keep him on for longer if it means Tsunoda learning more off Ricciardo. The whole Tsunoda being the “team leader” thing really didn’t work out last year.

Problem is when DR does well, Yuki throws his toys out of the pram. Should DR pick up form again Yuki will shit the bed.

Can we just hurry up and make Bottas the Prime Minister already?

His brakes exploded. Good footage though!

Pedantry accepted and encouraged. Can I blame autocorrect?

That’s definitely true. Mind you, Yuki has come a long long way from when he first came in, but he generally comes off as a spoilt brat, rather than the usual narcissistic personality of the other drivers.

yeah, nah. Can’t cut you a brake on this one

It’s heartwarming to see the new Bogan Bottas. At Mercedes he was obviously depressed and admitted to mental health issues after going through a divorce. Now’s he’s met Aussie Tiffany Cromwell and he’s now more of Aussie than most of us. He’s a good cunt.

Now all he needs is for his team to learn how to change wheels without cocking it up.

Welcome to the production line of the Red Bull driver academy.

And Bottas’s “sausage sizzle” helmet for the weekend was so completely shit it was a work of art.

That’s truly terrible.

I heard VB say something about materials in an interview. It’s not learning how to change them. There’s a material in the wheel or nut that is too hard or too soft and it’s cross threading.

The New Zealand Herald has reported that Helmut Marko has given an ultimatum to Ricciardo that he needs to lift his game in the next two Grand Prix in Japan and China or he’ll be replaced with Lawson.

Dan ruined his race on Sat.
And much like Ham couldn’t do anything starting on Softs.

That said once the field spread out he actually kept pretty decent pace. Basically stayed 10-12 secs behind Yuki despite being on a worse strategy.
