The NRL Thread- Everyone gets a coach

Aren’t Manly and Easts up there on the most disliked list? Seems like nearly everyone has a rivalry with them.

If we’re playing 1960s rules, the SG Ball team would have to try to get the ball off the Dragons team which is not going to happen

I don’t even like Manly Sea Eagles, and aw mentioned, no NRL team. North Shore vs. Beaches thing, I suppose. Plus, Northern Eagles nonsense.

Pretty much every teams hates them, but it’s degrees of hate and where you put them on your list. There’s no wonder that there was a t-shirt that said; “I support two teams, “X” and whoever is playing Manly”

I’m a Parra fan and the teams I’ve always hated are the Bulldogs and Manly. Not to fussed about the Roosters or Penrith at least until recently

Looks like the battle of the helmets in the NRLW GF

I know many Parra fans and they’re far more focused on the Dogs than anyone else

Manly vs Western Suburbs was the big rivalry back in the 70s.

That makes more sense to me given areas like Auburn. Having said that, the Eels and Panthers do seems to have contentious juniors areas along Blacktown.

I don’t feel like that has translated to the Wests Tigers though.

I think you’re right. The “Fibros” of the Western Suburbs vs the “Silvertails” of Manly was certainly a working class vs upper class rivalry. Although Balmain was a working class suburb until relatively recently, they had their own thing going on with other inner city clubs.

When Wests and Balmain merged, not only did their rivalry mainly become the two clubs in the merger themselves, but Manly, then Northern Eagles, then Manly again sucked so much for so long that it wasn’t a valid rivalry.

When Manly got good again, I couldn’t hate them like I used to because they towelled Melbourne Storm in that perfect Grand Final.

Jesus. Penrith, storm, roosters and manly.

That’s a vomit inducing four!

Fwiw I’m backing the broncos for the soft spot I’ve got for Adam Reynolds (and how he’s proving south’s so horribly wrong for not signing him again) - however I think the panthers are just too slick, organised and talented to be beaten

Both Clubs also lost alot of their soul when they merged - it doesnt matter anymore - theyre both now “meh” Clubs in the grand scheme of things.

Go Broncos? I’d love to see NRL really establish itself up in Queensland - for the sake of the future of the game.

There’s probably a chance here to show that they can go to the top, out in the provinces.
