The travelling circus: stadia discussion

Never mind playing there.

I haven’t seen any commitment, period, from the Tigers since 2005.

As long as the old toilets with their heritage patina are preserved as a museum, it’s all good.

(Almost) Brand new stadium. Same pitch issues despite being told the issues would be addressed.

Roy and HG are on to it.

I have no idea what any of them are.

Sponsor names suck.

Little surprise we’re far from the top for playing surfaces. Suncorp obviously got nowhere near even 3.5/5 :joy:

Suncorp was rating less than the battlefields around Bakhmut in Ukraine.

Suncorp, or Bakhmut after a few concerts, rain & rugby? :man_shrugging:

Sky = Sky Sports. New Zealands version of Foxtel/Fox Sports
Coopers = Australian beer. Fun Fact - Australia’s largest non-foreign owned brewery.
Tarneit Football Facility = Tarneit Football Facility. No sponsor, yet.
AAMI = Insurance firm. Best known for their Khatut & Rhonda ads about a decade ago.
CommBank = Australia’s largest bank
Allianz = German bank and insurance firm.

Never heard it called anything but the cake tin.

Not so fun fact. Allianz were apparently heavily involved with the Nazis, and now they sponsor our stadium. So you are all enablers!

Every German company during that time period was. You couldn’t not be if you wanted to survive. Some were obviously more favourable towards the cause than others, but most German citizens were Nazi party members because if you weren’t you were likely to find yourself under suspicion and watch by the Gestapo.

Ever worn anything by Hugo Boss? Ever wondered why the Nazi uniforms look so damn good?

I work for Volkswagen. Doesn’t mean before our daily 8.30 meeting we click our heels, stand stiffly, face the portrait of the fuhrer and crack out a stiff armed salute and should Heil! three times. (It’s only on the 8th August, but I digress…).

Mitsuibishi were very proud of the fact that during WWII they openly used POWs as a source of forced labour, and yet one of the most popular car brands worldwide.

Plenty of modern day brands have times in their histories that supported the Axis Powers in WWII, and the same goes for many global brands for conflicts all over the world.

While I get that a lot would have been aboard for the convenience rather than being believers, the membership was about 10% of the population at its peak at the end of the regime in 1945. However, big business like Allianz saw enough they liked about the message to get aboard in the early 30s. Allianz are as dodgy as the surface of the stadium after a weekend of Super Rugby and NRL.

How the fuck does Sky Stadium have one of the top atmospheres when its 75% empty every week, aside from that one semi final match?

Windy Wellington, they mistakenly rated it for atmospheric pressure?

The atmosphere gets rated on when the attractive women taking their tops off when Wellington are winning.

Yep. Has sweet fuck all to do with the Tigers that Mayoral fuckhead constant whining over the years about the ground even though they own it. If it wasn’t for the Sydney FC presence at that ground they wouldn’t have gotten a red cent.

I could be wrong & will defer to any Tigers fans however there was a radio interview a couple of months ago where they said in so many words that they’d rather play at a proper stadium with proper corporate facilites. For better or worse this is modern sport, suburban grounds are for suburban teams & suburban teams in professional sporting leagues aren’t a thing anymore.

Not that it wouldn’t have had a huge degree - if any - of importance in the funding, but the upgrades will probably help support APIA Leichhardt’s entry into the second division, should that eventuate. Their youth/NPL teams will then probably just use Lambert and it’s fancy dance Italian soil under the astroturf.

Nah, we don’t need 40 million from anyone. We’re not corporate welfare recipients.

p.s The soil was just redone recently.

The soil is plush. Just wish they had re-done the stands at the same time. NPL played something like 15 rounds before they could use Lambert and the stands are still shit.
