Anas will feel right at home.
We don’t need another hero!
Two teams enter. One team leaves.
Surface absolutely fucked for Roosters vs Eels after 20-30 minutes heavy rain.
Just turned it on. Shouldn’t the drainage on our $800m shiny new toy hold up better than that?
One would hope so, they didn’t build it on top of a swamp like Commbank.
Yeah that was a joke last night. It was a short and heavy storm, but the drainage just didnt hold up. Noticed it as well in a couple Sydney games.
Ground was torn up all sorts as well.
Pretty unacceptable tbh. A severe summer storm and we’ll need to postpone games.
If I recall our opening game at the new stadium, it was far heavier and longer rain and we didn’t have the same puddling issues.
Have the drains become blocked over time?
I thought I heard them mention pre-game that the surface had only just been re-laid. That could possibly explain the poor drainage last night.
Well.
It’s going to need relaying again, now.
It’s still pretty pisspoor given how new and “modern” the stadiums supposed to be. Wasn’t one of the big talking points that it would be playable within 24 hours of it being laid?
If it was us last night might have gone close to being postponed, it was that bad.
I haven’t watched a game of NRL since the mid 90’s, and i remember these matches as normal, if not a lot more exciting when i was in my teens. Mud, sliding and dirty, and fights.
But you’d think someone or something has gone wrong in preparation of that field this time.
(As a side thing to ask those that might know, is Easts v Parramatta clashes similar in ‘attitude’ to SFC v WSW?)
No. Fuck the Roosters…
Easts vs Souths and maybe Easts vs St George.
40-50 years ago Manly and Wests could get spicy. Parra’s rival is Canterbury.
But Rugby League rivalry is really not comparable.
It would have been postponed. From post to post down the middle of the ground, you could have excused yourself for thinking Centennial Park across the road had opened a new pond.
I think it’s more of an implicit thing. Would be naive to think the class gap doesn’t exist, but does anyone really care?
Probably not the best thread for this but holy shit…
Morocco is now building a 115,000 capacity stadium, set to be the biggest capacity football stadium in the world… The kicker, they haven’t actually won the rights to host the final, with the Bernebau currently being the front runner.
I like it!
Putting this in the stadium thread because its not too far away. The Ladies League, which has included our own Michelle Morris, is opening this bar with a focus on women’s sport.
Although not many of our ALW matches are at the SFS, it should be a football-friendly venue worth supporting even before and after ALM.
