The travelling circus: stadia discussion

I took my daughter and one of her friends to the Radelaide game. At half time they took a wander around the stadium and came back with gelato for me as apparently they sell it in the corner at the away end. Did not know that.

Now looking at the side of the cup this gelato is from a place called Art of Gelato ( https://artofgelato.com.au/ ) out at Carramar which I was very excited about as I’ve been going there for 20 years or so. They have a small retail component out the front and they open 5 days a week however they make it all themselves on site out the back and the bulk of their business is wholesale. Shits all over the Messina & Gelatissimo stuff so it’s a very good addition to game day. They’ve won a shitload of Royal Easter Show awards ( they have them up at the store ) and a few years back they went to the Gelato World Cup in Italy and came 3rd. So this ain’t no Hemmes slop.

Yeah that gelato is pretty good, you can get it in the away end or there’s a cart that sells it in the home end outside Jimmy’s Falafel but the line is always huge.

I’ve heard the best time to go is when WSW play, it’s the second half and they’re losing. The place is generally empty

Wait, something good coming out of Carramar?

That place is the closest thing to ‘The Hood’ as you’ll get in Sydney.

Email this week from the club, looks like they got the message from Dear Leader Hemmes :joy:

Take advantage of the Happy Hour with all Tap Beers & House Wines for only $9. Happy Hour runs from 6:00-6:45pm.

Wondering if I should query where the other 15minutes of the “hour” come into play…

Serious question time though, do I need to go into the gate on my ticket or can I literally scan anywhere (like the old SFS)?

You should be able to enter anywhere. I always go through one of the gates not listed on my membership.

Perfect. Thanks!

Most weeks yes, however I think for bigger games like derbies or vs victory you are limited to your allocated gate has been my experience.

Wasn’t there just communication from the club stating that Cove members must enter through a specific gate?

I’ve had the same experience. Normal games are flexible, derbies are typically limited to the gates specified on your card/PDF.

But… You can walk around the stadium once you’re in…

Yeah. I think they just try and reduce traffic in the concourse area to keep to to people just visiting outlets and toilets and the like within their area.

100% traffic. They want a flow of traffic into seats at the start, rather than people crossing from multiple different points. Also want to avoid clashes between fans

Also having the Cove go through the small gate basically one at a time they can scrutinise and search all the malcontents more thoroughly.
