The TV Show Thread

Netflix is gold standard. Ive downloaded some movies on amazon and there’s actual lag when i skip a portion. Not sure how that even works.

Disney had a thing were there were times it wouldnlt show the stuff i was in the middle of watching and was overly sensitive internetwise

I jus tthink that given how little tv I watch it’s time to figure out all this plex server business.

Stan is the one streaming service that I’m thinking of giving the heave ho.

Hacks is the only thing I’ve watched on it in the last six months I think?

I only keep Stan for the rugby. Fucking expensive, but whatever.

Started watching Too Old to Die Young on prime, with Miles Teller. Fucking weird.

So i cancelled Disney and have till the end of the subscription date. Suddenly the video playing cuts out as does the sound. Never had this problem before, dodgy fuckers

If it doesn’t come back, I’d be asking Fair Trading what can be done there.

Really enjoying Bosch on Prime at the moment. 3 seasons in, some good decent actors and plot lines.

Haven’t seen Titus in anything since he played the IRA guy in Sons of Anarchy.

7 seasons of Bosch, and 2 seasons of a spin off. Should be a few good weeks of TV.

Excellent show.
Welliver top class

Fucking Bosch

Started watching Wheels of Time and definitely enjoying the first two episodes. Even more so than Fallout to tell you the truth.

I got 3/4 of the way through Fallout and got bored of it. Became very predictable.

Great show.

Watching RenFaire at the moment, doco about America’s biggest Renneisance Faire in Texas, has real Tiger King vibes.

My favourite characters are probably Crate and Barrell.

They’re just West coast knockoffs of Hitchcock & Scully from Brooklyn 99. :joy:

Stay away from WoT Stans. They hate it. Similar thing to Halo Stans.

I read Wot so long ago, and read the 13 books out of spite, that I can’t remember the details.

The show is enjoyable.

Especially if the haters find out there’s a non-binary actor in it!

I’m no stan but the show is a pretty poor adaption. Rosmund Pike is pretty good.

The books are impossible to adapt - too many characters and bizarre pacing.
First season was seriously affected by covid stuff (and one of the main actors quit or got fired mysteriously). Second season was better. I think they’re skipping the Stone of Tear stuff in S3 which seems daft, but keen to see where they to with it.

So, to expanding on my theme of staying away from Stans of the book and moving into adaption …

So what if it is a poor adaption? Is it a good story? As far as stories go, it’s enjoyable. Is it enjoyable if you sit there with the 95 page tale of the first day and a half of the fair in two rivers and the tedious writing that is WoT’s touchstone and note all the ways the TV show changes the story? Probably not.

Is it a good story?

Have you ever heard someone tell a story that you were involved in and you sit there with a quizzical look on your face wondering how they interpreted it that way cause that’s not how you remember it?

Enjoy each recounting of a tale for what it is. Not for how it lines up with another recounting of that tale.

I went back to Fallout after abandoning after the Knight Titus situation in Filly turned me off.

Turns out I enjoyed it. I think Ella Purnell did a stella job and I only just realised that Kyle MacLachlan is in it.

New season of The Boys is out.

Holy human centipede. I mean it wasn’t quite The Deep violating aquatic animals, or people shrinking themselves into male anatomy, but it was up there…

Also new season of the Mayor of Kingstown is out. Will check that out once I’ve finished Bosch.
