The TV Show Thread

It can’t rain all the time.

That is what I have also always thought - his face in that scene is particularly memorable

If you want to watch a show that holds up over time then this is it. I finished watching it again ~18 months ago and was not disappointed.
It’s amazing how many well known actors had cameos or recurring roles in what was such an edgy show.

My list of shows to watch is about 100 times greater than the time I have to watch them :frowning:

Watched it at the movies then again at home. Good for me as a Sopranos super fan but really average film. Some of the reveals were amazing and Astral Weeks is my favourite album ever but a weak effort. Standing on its own it would be a 1/5. Bitterly disappointed when they could have smashed it.

Has anybody got any thoughts on this new series of the stand on prime?

I’m kinda leary of King atm after reading every shitty word he wrote in the dark tower.

I liked it and I’m not much of a fan of King.

Yeah I watched it yesterday. I’d forgotten just how funny the show could be.

Yeah I’m pleasantly surprised. Happy with the changes they’ve made (so far), and they got a lot of world exposition into the story.

Finished first 3 episodes of Hawkeye (only 3 available at the moment) and it might be my favourite of the four released major character TV shows… Feels like a nice homage to Die Hard as well, which is kinda cool. Only reason it might sit level with Wandavision at the moment is because Wandavision has Kathryn Hahn, and Kathryn Hahn is simply brilliant.

Was coming in to write this exact thing as well… absolutely loving Hawkeye

the self effacing humor of the musical was very funny

It does feel like it is the first one to really tease out some deeper character information, but that might have a little do with the fact that a lot of his story to date has been in the background of the other major characters in the movies. Hailee Steinfeld is quite great casting as well… which helps.

Also - the character of Jack looks like they just should have cast Paul F. Tompkins instead of someone doing a Paul F. Tompkins impression.

I loathed WandaVision when it first came out but I eventually got into it. Loki was immense and Falcon and the Winter Soldier was fine… Hawkeye is the only I can see myself rewatching though. The action in ep3 was superb.

I really like WandaVision, but I am also a sucker for exploring American culture, and the undertaking of using American sitcoms (viewed through the eyes of an immigrant) for this was especially right up my ally. Plus - Kathryn Hahn.

Loki was great. I am a bit cold on Falcon and Winter Soldier… I think it should have just focused on Winter Soldier but it is obviously being used to set up the next lot of movies

I really enjoyed falcon and winter soldier… Loki was awesome but couldn’t get into Wandavision at all… may have to give it another crack

There is a car chase scene in episode three that needs to be re-watched just to study the direction and camera work. Next level stuff.
