Apparently there are storms like this all up and down the coast. One person already been killed when a tree fell on his car.

The wall of wind in West Ryde was terrifying when it was hitting the house, especially as it was blowing from behind the gumtree in the neighbours backyard towards our house. Was terrified of branches hitting. Thankfully it looks like we managed to avoid the worst of the lightning strikes.
Getting to work was fucked though, took me ages to cross the Silverwater bridge, despite the fact that there was no real perceptible reason for the traffic once I crossed

Gusts of 100km/h at Sydney Airport, and up to 120km/h in Kurnell, Williamstown and Trangie…

We have had 2 black outs this week, we haven’t had one before this in years
Have you lost phone and/or internet?
It’s becoming quite an issue when the power is out for more than a couple of hours.
Not sure what contingencies are built into the system but I know that they were also having issues in Victoria with the bushfires.
We have a landline phone which is plugged into the modem so we lost that when the wifi went down. I still have my mobile phone though along with the mobile data to access the net. It’s a fair bit slower but does the job if needed
I have a tree branch that went through the roof of my kids bedroom. Upstairs flooded through to the downstairs areas. Took SES two days to get around before we could cover the hole in the roof. Still got power and internet though.
Jesus, hope all are unscathed? must have scared the crap out of everyone

Have a cousin who had the same thing a couple of years ago. Thankfully the little one was sleeping with mum and not in bed.

Just like the vegan that really wants you to know they’re a vegan, I had solar panels and a battery installed this week and I’m here to tell you that it’s fucking fantastic.
Had the aircon blasting all day and it cost me $0.
On a sunny day like today, battery is fully charged by midday, and when the sun goes down that power is sufficient to take us through the night until the sun comes up again.
Don’t know why it took me so long to bite the bullet.
