I’ve seen it before. When I first saw it, I assumed that 10cis 10bold had become a new regional channel.
With people going the streaming route, I can see there being less and less value in advertising on FTA. Probably a whole bunch of companies rethinking their current ad campaigns and going cheaper options like social media etc.
Social media and online advertising is expensive to do right and absolutely crammed with incredibly low quality / low return bullshit, plus the online audiences are incredibly fragmented.
Would they get a better return/reach on social media though? I’m assuming the demographic of those regularly watching free to air are going to be in the higher ages rather than the lower?
And that’s the core of the issue, FTA has independent measurement of viewership and demographics, online has whatever google/meta/twitter tell you it is.
Online, you can see one ad playing on the 2nd break of ACA and know you got what you paid for, how many saw it and what the demographics were Do the same thing on YouTube and it’s impossible to verify any of the data provided and all of the big ad platforms have been caught ad-dumping again and again and again.
You can argue about the data quality of Nielsen ratings but they’re an independent industry standard.

Was just having a look at their plans, cheapest is $62 for 12 months. That’s with ads, HD only and maybe single screen. Full service is $125 a year, $14 month

Honestly, a change for the better. Back to back games gives a chance to make it more of an occasion and a lead in to European football. Plus you’d think you’d get more eyeballs on the Saturday particularly with one game leading into another.
