Are we sure he was imitating Mark Bosnich? :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Well, he was standing right next to Bosnich when he did it.

They’re quoting him - how is that tantamount to regurgitation? I’m pretty sure Calum Jaspan does not have intimate knowledge of A-League fan culture circa 2014. If it was Vince’s byline, different story, of course.

Delany says a poor reason for doing a Nazi salute.

Jasper just reports that. Does no work, doesn’t find the footage of Delany looking at Mark Bosnich and then doing the salute.

Provides no context that Mark Bosnich once performed a Nazi salute at Tottenham Hotspurs fans whilst playing for Aston Villa.

“If someone says it’s raining and someone else says it’s not raining, it’s not the journalist’s job to report both. Their job is to stick their head out the window and check.”

Hilly posted the applicable quote

I’d suggest if you quote someone without any actual verification that it’s accurate then it is regurgitation.

I mean he’s literally doing the fucking mustache. It’s nothing like the wanderers chant. You don’t need to be ingrained in Aleague supporter culture to see that.

No one gave a fuck about the French league when they were there, even the people who bought PSG jersey’s still didn’t care.

Interesting details here: Football Australia, Paramount deal struck to show Socceroos, Matildas games until 2028 (SMH)

FA would not disclose the financial terms of the deal; previous reports of a $200 million agreement were wide of the mark according to sources who were speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the confidential nature of the deal.

Chief executive James Johnson would only say it was a new high-water mark for FA’s broadcast revenues and would enable them to continue investing into growing the brands of both national teams and the programs of junior teams that sit beneath them.

And

Paramount was largely unchallenged in its bidding for the rights, with FA keen to sell the rights to a single party. Both Foxtel and Nine (the owner of this masthead) looked at the rights but made no serious bid, sources familiar with the plans said.

Also

The deal cements Paramount as the one-stop shop for Australian football content, and sits alongside their existing contract to broadcast the A-Leagues, which has two more seasons to run. Paramount has an option in their favour to extend it by a further three years; due to a failure to hit subscription-based targets within the contract, it has turned out to be worth a lot less than the $40 million-per-season figured trumpeted by the Australian Professional Leagues when it was signed.

But also

While the APL is eager to discuss a renewal to shore up the financial future of A-League clubs, and is expected to begin the process of seeking a new rights deal by the end of the year, McGarvey said Paramount was in no rush.

Last week, Foxtel expressed an interest in potentially bidding for the A-Leagues rights again. Julian Ogrin, the CEO of Foxtel’s streaming and advertising division, which includes Kayo Sports, told Mumbrella the company would “absolutely” consider a bid for the A-Leagues, if the rights became available.

Despite any Foxtel interest, The APL isn’t going to be able to force a higher price though. If Paramount wants to hang onto the APL rights, they’ve got a 3 year option to do so.

But the practical concern is that they can’t bleed the league to death, because that will damage Australian football more generally, smashing the Socceroos and Matildas rights value and destroying two assets.

The thing that really fucks me off is that it’s not. Half the time I actually need to be on 10 Play. Yes this is a serious problem for me, a grown adult.

It is, if it logs you out and you’re trying to remember your password, forget it, have to reset it and then find your email, change to a new one that inevitably is the same one that you had previously, as you typed the password in wrong, then change it to a secondary password that you inevitably forget when you get logged out

SBS is starting a new football show.

How would one acquire one? It seems that TNT sports have basically given up on Serie A

I’ll PM you :+1:

If you’re paramount annual subscription is about to renew make sure you try and cancel. They will give you 50% off to keep you.

Thanks for that.

Did it adjust end date of the contract for you? Mine still says the end date as my current one

It wouldn’t adjust because you’re paid up till the end date.

people don’t just cancel their subscription at the end of the season??

Thanks for the tip.

So if I’m currently paid up until 6/10/24 (12 month sub) and I hit “Cancel Subscription” now, how does this 50% discount work?

Do I renew and pay now for another 12 months (discounted by half) and my new plan end date goes to 6/10/25?

Or do they give a promo code to use when renewing closer to the plan expiry date?

Renewal will happen on the 6/10 but you should be charged 50% normal rate. At least I think so.

This is what mine looks like at the moment:
