TV Ratings and Revenue

Danny doesn’t sound too concerned from his quote in the article.

FA will lose their 20% cut if it doesn’t go ahead, and ultimately, that’s all they really care about…

Why can’t they move the lower tiers to fit the A-League season if they’re so desperate for this ridiculous promotion/relegation notion to take place…

I assume Fox will retain the WCQ for this round at least? I’ll still have Kayo for what’s left of the second round because of finals and ACL, but the next qualifying round has fixtures in September, October, November, January, February and March - which kinda sucks.

Yeah Peacock talked up the upcoming games during commentary tonight saying they were in Fox

What 20% cut are you referring to?

Ffa get a cut of the media deal

They need the comp to happen or no 20%

What he said…

It was part of the independent A-League agreement.

And if the a league goes winter the comp probably isn’t worth as much.

So the 20% would be smaller.

Yeah, I get that, was trying to understand why they would lose their cut, but didn’t realise you were suggesting that a possibility was the competition itself wouldn’t go ahead.

I thought this was a good read.

Hoping that the US version of Paramount+ gets the games as well.

Saw someone ask Danny on twitter about that, says they’re working that out next.

Anyone else having trouble streaming tonight’s game on Foxtel?

Yes fuck Foxtel

Annoying when it’s the only reason I keep Foxtel and it doesn’t work!

Kayo stream is ok.

MyFootball app is fine.

Kayo will randomly take me back to the start of the game.

Really annoying when you’re cooking dinner and it jumps from 30 to 1 minute.

Is the salary cap likely to go up with this Paramount deal? I know we had a fairly chunky haircut to the cap going into this season, but wasn’t sure how the new deal is going to stack up.

In terms of cash, the deal went from $50m down to $25m and now up to $32m. Some of that goes to FA, 20% of the new deal and an unknown amount of the earlier deals (which was largely the trigger for the clubs’ revolt).

The salary cap dropped from $3.2m in 2019/20 to $2.1m in 2020/21. Wouldn’t surprise me if it comes back a bit (e.g. $2.4m) but I couldn’t see it going much higher than that.

Did that original $50m also include Socceroos and Matildas?
