That’s a easy fix with promotion like this. Get ready for some soccer!!!

It’s a sign of the times, and I agree it’s not good. However, my point is that Fox/Kayo are diluting their content offering, and it’s the more expensive platform in this comparison.

Most streaming services can be turned on and off. It’d just be Kayo/Fox that locks you in.

Solid point/. Their $25 price point is way above anyone else’s. Yes they have some of the big European leagues, but that $25 is so they can throw huge bags of cash at the AFL and NRL, and no way I’m funding those fuckers.

And I get that there’s people for whom this is adding up, but personally I come out of it great. My Optus is free, Paramount’s $8.99 (maybe cheaper for A-League members?) is very affordable, I don’t like rugger and haven’t watched enough of the other big football leagues in Europe enough to justify keeping Kayo. So I move to 9 bucks a month for my sporting fix (until Optus inevitably loses EPL or UCL).

J.League is on Optus right now but I am not really appreciative of how they broadcast, they only pick 2 or 3 games a round to show and don’t bother with the other games.

A service that actually streams all the games would be much more preferable.

I’ll be keeping Kayo at this stage for ESPN and the NFL, MLB and NBA. Getting all the individual game pass apps for each of those isn’t really worth the extra cost for me, plus I enjoy some of the related magazine/panel shows ESPN produce.

I’ll be ditching Stan though. No real need for it now. Replacing it with Paramount+ which I think a few people will do. Can hit pause on Optus after this weekend as well.

Euro 20201 is on Optus isn’t it?

MLS is the second most watchable league (after ours, of course). The 30 min highlight show each week is absolutely hectic, shits me no end that it’s not available on demand on Kayo though, have to watch it via the live channel when it’s actually on or miss out.

I like UFC, cricket and rugba leeg so I’ll keep kayo for now.

So another point. Even if you follow both NRL and A-League, if you only subscribe to each platform for the duration of those seasons, you’re still better off.

Kayo Paramount+ Both Old (Kayo for Both)
Jan $9.00 $9.00 $25.00
Feb $9.00 $9.00 $25.00
Mar $25.00 $9.00 $34.00 $25.00
Apr $25.00 $9.00 $34.00 $25.00
May $25.00 $9.00 $34.00 $25.00
Jun $25.00 $25.00 $25.00
Jul $25.00 $25.00 $25.00
Aug $25.00 $25.00 $25.00
Sep $25.00 $25.00 $25.00
Oct $25.00 $9.00 $34.00 $25.00
Nov $9.00 $9.00 $25.00
Dec $9.00 $9.00 $25.00
Totals $200.00 $72.00 $272.00 $300.00

Obviously doesn’t take into account FFA Cup (rumoured to streamed for free) and ACL but these aren’t confirmed yet. The group stage of the ACL runs through the A-League season most of the time anyway. But what if you’re team make it further and you want to watch those games? Well, even if you decided to subscribe to Paramount all year round and Kayo for the NRL season only, you’re only $8 out of pocket. And this doesn’t take into account the potential discounting that is on offer from the clubs for members, so you’d most likely be in the clear.

No one pays $25 a month for Kayo though, do they?

I was paying $15 until recent fuckup paying through Telstra. Canned it for 2 months then they sent the apology email realising they could’ve fixed it all along and invited me to re-join at $15 for another 12 months. I clicked the link and right next to it was another option to pay $5 per month for the next 12 months, so of course I ticked that one instead. Lol.

At $5 a month I’ll probably keep it for other stuff, at full freight I’d can it in a heartbeat and pay $9 for A-L.

That’s for Telstra customers only. No chance I’ll ever be a Telstra customer. Also would mean not being an Optus customer and therefore foregoing, or paying for Optus Sport.

It’d be good to see Peacock and Dodd move over to Ten/Paramount as well.

Yeah hopefully Peacock moves over as well and Tara…ok and Robbie I don’t mind him. Sue me haha. Simon Hill has to be the most important target though

Robbie has similiar politics to Zelic. He is less overt with it but still.

Hill, Dodds, Peacock and Tara are top quality.

Peacock is an interesting one. I’d really like to see him come across but he really seems married to Fox. I listened to the Fox Sports podcast today and you could tell that he was really disappointed that the A-League was no longer with Fox, but at the same time he was very defensive and spruiking the be careful what you wish for narrative. I’m not sure what sports are left at Fox for him to be involved with, but I’m not convinced he’d jump ship without careful consideration.

If Peacock stays then we need Andy Harper back to hosting. He’s infinitely better directing the conversation than answering questions.

I always thought Harper was a decent host/panelist but not a great commentator.

Looks like we havent moved past the summer/winter debate

FFS. The APL have reached a good deal but the FA want to spoil the party.
