He’s also been on Sky Sports over here in the UK. Does a decent job.

Yeah, got to think it’s unlikely he wants to come home if he’s got a gig doing Premier League.

I thought that was Volkswagen’s new car to scale back on air emissions.

The Herald can reveal that Ten’s owners, ViacomCBS, have invested a further $100 million into the sport – according to sources with direct knowledge of the deal – to secure a suite of key international fixtures involving Australia’s men’s and women’s teams as well as the FFA Cup, AFC Champions League and other Asian tournaments.

The new contract, struck with Football Australia, covers the next three and a half years and includes the Socceroos’ final round of qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, the forthcoming Asian Cups for women (2022) and men (2023), and all friendlies and qualifiers for both senior national teams.

Reasonable. $68.6m a year all up. I’ll take that. Really hope JJ plows some of this into in house production capacity for 6 yrs from now.

So this weekend is my last time watching Kayo by the sound of it.

Fantastic that Australian football has one home again. A home with greater mainstream prominence where we form a key part of their sporting strategy!

Actually, does Fox Sports (i.e. not BeIN) retain any football rights then?

Whilst we know the dollar figure the A/W League deal I’m going to assume they sold the rights separately to the NT. Didn’t say how much they got for that though.

It does make a lot of sense though. The nightmare situation was having football content split over a bunch of platforms. Having essentially Paramount/Ten be the new home of football makes it far more appealing product

I can’t think of any.
So one could still get Bein for the Serie A/BL/La liga, fork out the tenner for the new service, and that all costs no more than Kayo (Bein is $180 for a year).

That’s a decent chunk of cash, and I’m glad to see it includes things like the youth Asian Cup as well, that’ll be nice to have at hand.

I’m really optimistic that we have a broadcaster putting their money where their mouth is. It would also be great if they get the on-sale from SBS to put the Australian World Cup games on Ten. Having it all through one provider will hopefully allow them to cross-promote the A-League during the World Cup, particularly given the next World Cup falls during the season.

Yeah.

The NT games deal was done with the FFA. Not the league

It has been quite a while since there was a cause for optimism. Bring on A-League 2.0!
