Where are they now?

Are we saying he was signed based on his “on physio table percentage”?

His signing was an odd use of a foreign spot by us and he didn’t contribute much, to be honest.

"I joined Sydney FC as a fit 21-year-old, with a decent reputation after playing in Europe. I played just eight games, in one of which I was sent off. I wasn’t good enough. My athleticism had gone. I didn’t deserve another contract.

The jig was up, my football career seemed over. I spent the next two years working in a warehouse. People would ask me “how’s football?” and I’d tell them I wasn’t playing any more, subconsciously this had an enormous effect on my mental health forcing me to fall deeper into the whole I had dug myself.

My identity was shattered.

If I wasn’t a footballer, who was I?"

Interesting read. Had Seb Ryall vibes.

Yeah that is a really good insight that I think we forget sometimes from the outside looking in, mainly worried about the team’s results. Still seems so bizarre he shared a pitch with ADP though.

(BTW as some friendly feedback, there’s no need to format your posts like clickbait. Just say who the article is about – Marc Warren for anyone wondering)

There’s players who feel natural to have played at that time, like Antonis the wonderkid and Carle the magician. Then there’s others line Joel Chianese. Or Warren.

I know they are all human and we only see them as something like FIFA avatars and forget that sometimes, but fuck me that’s some dark reading.

How the fuck Farina fucks up having Carle and ADP at the same time is fucking beyond me.

Marc Warren, proud Menai Hawks alum

Honestly feel bad for the bloke, we did give him a lot of stick.

I’ll give him a break as he was suffering through some MH issues, whilst I have no doubt they were a contributing factor, he really was fucking shite.

Dare I say, one of the worst defenders we’ve ever signed, along with Trent McCluckfuck McClenahan.

In fairness, Warren played for Airdrie FC, in the heart of the Buckie triangle, near where I was brought up. More than enough to induce PTSD.

I raise you a Jaimie Coyne

Top 3 worst Sydney defenders (in no particular order):

  1. Trent McClenahan
  2. Jamie Coyne
  3. Marc Warren

Prentice? Sherlock? Tsattalios? Woodcock? Oostendorp? Busch? Probably a million other kids I’ve forgotten?

I reckon the guys who couldn’t make the field were probably not as good as the ones who just weren’t as good a starter as we would’ve liked?

Prentice and Sherlock were both midfielders that got shoehorned to fill into the backline. Prentice and Busch also have a key exemption from ever being included in such discussion.

Woodcock was Mitch Austin bad the few times he played for us.

Somewhat redeemed himself in the ACL when we made R16 I thought? But then we got Zullo…
