Where are they now?

I don’t believe you

I don’t think we got enough mileage out of the fact he’s from Cockburn.

“The timing is curious with Feyenoord set to face AC Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday. Pascal Bosschaart has stepped in as interim head coach.”

Another coach off the Sydney FC production line.

Portsmouth with an important 2-1 win. Matthews came on for the last 30, and didn’t concede. No other Australians played

Hayden will be starting tonight.

Pompey fan in peace. It looks as though Hayden has the chance of a run in the starting XI as one of our first choice CBs is out for six to eight weeks. He was one of our best performers this afternoon in the win at Oxford. I’m a little worried about exposing him to too much Championship football so soon, particularly as we’re battling to retain our spot in the league for next season, but it looks like there is a decent player there.

Good luck for the rest of the A-League season.

The manager seemed happy enough too with him - go to the 1 min mark in the below.

@PompeyFan Matthews is one of our own, treat him well!

Drop in now and then to give us updates on how he’s going. Most of us probably don’t get the chance to watch these games and we’d love to hear updates now and then.

Definitely keep us updated. With Mathews, Farrell and Waddingham at Portsmouth think all Aussie football fans are a bit invested in Portsmouth doing well

If he works hard and looks to develop (why wouldn’t he?) he’ll have a great time with us. This is a proper working-class city where the football club is a really big deal (very few Liverpool and Man U shirts here).

I’m sure he’ll hit a few bumps in the road - the overall standard in the EFL Championship is pretty good, but more than anything the intensity and schedule is pretty relentless (I notice your regular season is fewer than 30 games - ours is 46, plus two domestic cup competitions - so lots of three game weeks), but really looking forward to seeing how he develops - the early signs are encouraging.

Will do, and noted on the others - Farrell is unlikely to feature before the new season in August and suspect Waddingham is unlikely to feature much this campaign now, unless we have another spate of injuries and suspensions - he’s very much one for the future.

On Yengi, no idea what the beef is (is there a big rivalry with WSW?) - he’s spent most of this campaign injured after picking up knocks with the national team and seemed to have quite a few knocks last season too. It will be interesting to see if he’s still with us for the next campaign.

You could say that

Ah okay, that came to me as I was typing - should have realised!

Mathews grew up supporting and being developed by the academy of a club who has the nickname “Bling Bling FC”.

Working class may not be the selling point for us that it may be for you. We’re more River than Boca.
