The IDF has just entered Al Jazeera’s West Bank offices and issued them with a 45 day shutdown notice.

Control of the press eh?

That wouldn’t be Fascism would it?

They stopped Al Jazeera from broadcasting from there a few months ago.
The reporters were obviously still getting the stories out to other Al Jazeera stations and this appears to be the way that the Israeli Government is going to stop that.

Funny how when Putin or the Chinese Government does it they’re tightly condemned for it but Netanyahu does it and it’s all nothing to see here.

In territory illegally occupied no less.

A NZ Navy ship has run aground on a reef off Samoa and caught fire. All crew have abandoned ship in life rafts.

HMNZS Manawanui.

That’s a $100, 000, 000 dollar fuck up!

When I went to the Pacific the nav told us that some of the places around there were last charted in WW2.

Apia was a terrible port to arrive to, last charted in the 80s or something

Apparently it was a survey ship? Seems odd that it would ground.

Not really, it’s job is to go extremely close to the reef.

Well, we know where the reef is now, so task achieved?

I’d imagine without hitting it. Like how the front isn’t supposed to fall off.

Beached as bro.

Chart that Bitch!

Couldn’t find the reef, so they thought they’d make a reef?

It’s a secret reef expansion project from the NZ government

Knowing militaries, they’ll make another reef out of wreaths.

There’s been some fairly big developments in both Moldova and Georgia over the past few weeks, a fair chunk of them are troubling, although Moldova less so.

Moldova had a referendum in which the option of joining the EU was raised. The vote passed, however only just, a bit over 10,000 votes out of a total of 1.4 million. The biggest worry on this, was evidence that Russia had given a criminal organisation $15,000,0000 which was then distributed to 150,000 individuals as a bribe to vote against the EU. Video evidence of admissions was discovered.

Georgia, on the other hand, recently had elections in which the pro-Russian ruling party claimed victory before voting had concluded. International observers noted widespread instances of blatant tampering, including footage of an individual who was seen stuffing handful of votes into ballot boxes. They reported widespread harassment, fraud and intimidation throughout the whole process. The ruling party has vowed to disband the opposition, which (usually fragmented), has united under the President and is pushing for nationwide protests.

Some of you may be abreast of the Syrian Civil War that’s been going on for the past few decades. The one which displaced millions and certain countries in Europe cough Poland cough refused to accept refugees for. The conflict in itself is ridiculously complicated and I barely understand maybe even 10% of what’s occurring, or who the “good” players are.

In short, during the Arab Spring, a big portion of the population rose up for multiple reasons, but in generaly, Assad ran a totalitarian regime. The complciated part is the number of different rebel groups. You have some supported by the US, some by Turkey with others being completely independant of all. Some work together, some against etc. Then you had ISIS make use of the confusion to take up large swathes of territory, before being wiped out. On top of ALL this, you also have Iran and Russia sending troops in support of Assad and US bases being present in territory as well. Russia was instrumental in reversing a large number of rebel gains through airstrikes.

With the fall of ISIS and general support being shifted to Ukraine and Israel by the west, the war became fairly stagnant with not much changing across the fronts. A few days ago though, a massive coalition formed, uniting most of the biggest rebel groups under the Military Operations Command. The coalition launched an attack that caught Syrian, Iraqi and Russian troops napping. They advanced so quickly that they’ve taken full control over Aleppo, the second largest city in Syria. On top of that, they’ve cleared the surrounding areas, including a major army base. The amount of territory taken is absolutely huge and it doesn’t look like there’s an end in site.

Well this is fucken weird.
