A-League Men - Round 25 - 2022-23 Discussion

25 starts from 25, 89.4 minutes per game, while being one of the best performers in the league.

Problem doesn’t seem to be on the player’s side…

At some point the guy who reckoned Zullo was a week away for three full seasons (including signing off on an unconditional two season extension post-injury), signed off on Rodwell, and oversaw the last two injury-ravaged seasons needs to be held to account.

“Fucking hell!” - Thomas Aquilina

And when he played for us how often was he fit? The kid could have been pretending to be injured to make sure nothing got in the way in his move to Wests, he could have had the move wrapped up during his last season with us and did have niggling injuries that he wanted extended time off from to recover, so he could start fresh with them.

There’s too much we don’t know about, things are never that simple. Numbers don’t always tell the full story.

On a scholarship contract no less, to a club with a pretty dismal best part of a decade behind them. Something or someone must have pissed him or his agent off, rightly or wrongly.

Never mind week 1 of A-L (October), he was fit enough to be playing 90 minutes for them in NPL2 almost immediately after leaving Culloden Road.

A 20 year old kid with 1 year of injury on his 1.5 year career spent a-whole-nother year faking an injury to ensure a minimum wage move to Western Sydney, as is the career aspiration of every Northern Beaches kid.

Because, you know, with a full six A-League appearances under your belt your career is set and you can afford batshit insane gambles like that.

I keep checking to make sure I’m in the right thread…

Anothet Jets red card.

Now a 4th goal for CCM to top this off…

So after the promise of a tight finals race, it’s looking likely that once again the ALM will fail to have an interesting final round in terms of proper jeopardy around the bottom of the 6 and it will all peter out for the last round. That’s even despite the Nix practically grinding to a halt for weeks and SFC struggling to string consecutive wins together.
Western or Perth may yet change that but given how wacky this league can be, it’s startling how rare such last round cliffhangers have been.

Now if City beat WU our finals chances go up by another few percent.

I can see Westies dropping to 4th and us staying at 5th… an elimination final at Parra looming but I don’t like our chances…

Newcastle really shit the bed in that second half.

I only saw the replay of O’Neils red out of the corner of my eye as I was making dinner, but it looked soft?

Peach of a ball from Nabbout, that. Real Becks to Andy Cole vibes, deflecting it in-off your own striker.

How wasn’t galloway sent off? That’s straight assault.

Jamie McClaren overtakes Besart Berisha as the leading goalscorer in the A-League.

Does the job with a casual hatty against West Victoria.

Everyone below us really shit the bed this round…

Can’t wait for our own bed shitting on Monday!

Unless Perth beats Adelaide, a draw Monday gets us through.

He had a terrible year with injuries playing in a team that had multiple players injured and out for extended periods.

It was the right thing to do at the time. Easy for you to carry on like this knowing now that he is injury free for a year. (Yes they made other mistakes but this isn’t one that anyone could have foreseen)

Couldn’t we have carried him a little longer though? considering we nursed Zuvela about half a decade it seemed.

From what I have heard, he was given the opportunity to come back and earn a spot but clocked out because evidently he decided to go to a better project for him.
