ALM Squad Speculation Thread 2024/25 (Part 2)

I really think a new RB (or RWB if we stick with the 3-4-2-1) needs to be added to that list. I just don’t think Rhynos up to playing out wide anymore and De Jesus is definitely not up to it yet.

They even ran an article about how he was second in the world for u21 goals and assists, but yeah, apparently not good enough to be the Young player of the year in the Aleague, It’s 1st or you’re shit

I really don’t want to think about Mitchell Duke’s taint, tyvm.

Perfect summary of our season here

Mostly agree, except I don’t think we ever looked like we were playing good football. I think we started out bad, then looked like we might find it, and finished worse.

To a certain extent.

Saying we should have used Ouahims visa spot on a foreign defender when blatantly it was Costa & Klimala who were the late entries. Ouahim was in months before either of them. That’s not to say they were bad signings in isolation but clearly Costa was not planned long term and upset the original plan.

Also I’ve seen multiple times “I can see what the plan was” with the game strategy, but they never articulate what that was. The implication seems to be a heavy high press - but we certainly didn’t see that compared to what we saw last season for periods. Not to say there wasn’t a press, but it certainly wasn’t the intense style we saw last season. If that was the plan they’re referring to it was a catastrophic failure.

Although Vinces shake of the head when mentioning the keeping was probably a conservative reflection of most fans I reckon!

More good news via old mate Marco Monteverde

Is this off-season just going to be more pain and misery?

So Marco has Xitter too, cool.

I dont think I could handle another much loved #10 going to Wanderers. Surely that wouldnt happen… surely…

There is no logical reason for Lolley to leave us for the wanderers and he certainly isn’t going to Perth when he’s got a Mrs here

However, I do see caceras moving on unfortunately

Based on?

The fact he’s not signed yet, was played in multiple positions last year and we already have costa & Lolley signed as our over 30 creative players

I don’t think he’s that similar to those guys.

Made to play multiple positions? That’s his whole career.

Letting Cáceres go would be even stupider than retaining Talay.

So probably?

The likely fact we retain Talay, which is also very likely adding to the incentive for players to consider leaving.

reading between the lines, if the new APL cap rules are in place, we get no discounts for Caceres salary - meaning less cap space.
Effectively squeezing him out unless he takes the pay cut.

But i’m no expert on that side of the game

The CBA doesn’t expire until 2026, which would be after the 2025/26 season so they cant change the cap until then. The PFA have already said they won’t approve any change in the cap and considering they have the CBA in their corner, the APL would have a hard time convincing a Court to accept a different deal, especially, as mentioned, it is expiring.

Yes that’s true

But if you’re Caceres do you want a 1 year contract or longer? He’s 32 and likely wanting more security
