I get the sentiment, if it goes south all of a sudden it creates a rift within the team - but telling people they can’t boof other people infringes on their human rights to do whatever the fuck they want when they aren’t on the clock.

I guess it’s no different from any other professional environment.
In every industry, job, career there’s going to be work colleagues who hook up and sleep together. We probably all know someone who has. At a previous job I was at, 2 colleagues were fired for hooking up in the office.
Needless to say this old classic sure got a workout.
I’d argue that when you are in camp on National Team duty you are on the clock 24/7.
I’m sure if you went away on a work trip and started banging other employees then your company wouldn’t be very happy about it.
I’m 50/50 on this.
It’s really none of their business what two consenting adults do in their spare time, unless, one of them is in a position of power and it can be seen as abusing that position of power.

It is. Ive slept with coworkers and a team mate in a coed team. And speaking from experience, when it ends, it often ends badly.
It’s also a very common thread in professional sporting teams. There’s been a large number of teams that ban players from bringing spouses, having sex etc prior to games. As is my understanding, if you are on a work trip, your work is responsible for you at all times. Players have curfews as well, which would technically be against human rights, but hey, they accept those.
If you’re being paid half decent money to represent your country at major sporting events, then you damn well better listen to the person in charge. At the end of the day, their heads are on the chopping block for poor performances first.
Most of the sprinters last under 10s anyway…
There are also a large number of teams where the spouses are present.
Having a curfew to be back at the hotel when travelling whilst travelling is very different to saying to someone “you cannot have sex with someone you are in a relationship with”.
I’m sure all coaches would prefer their players were 100% focused around the clock, unfortunately reality exists and people are human.
Plus, Tiger Woods is proof sex and elite sports performance go hand in hand. That is some cold hard scientific fact right there!

For major tournaments, families generally don’t stay in the same hotels… They generally get put up in nearby hotels, but most national teams will have a no family policy where they are sleeping.
Either I’ve missed a salacious headline, or you have very specific fantasies…

Getting back to the point at hand, there’s also a big difference between coworkers shacking up or athletes having a post-comp orgy by mutual consent, versus sexual hazing/initiation rituals between senior members of the squad and junior ones. I was being a bit tongue in cheek but IIRC that kind of thing was reported and that’s very much not ok.

If this is the sort of thing Staj was trying to eliminate and the squad got upset about it, it’s a bit of an issue.
