Bolting from the Blue- The Central Coast Mariners Thread

I’m really beginning to suspect you’re not an SFC fan …

But also, hurrah!

This run is impressive.

Also their only two losses since mid November have been to us, also we knocked them out of the cup so it’s going to be an intriguing two matches.

Congrats and enjoy your success!

Congratulations Mariners!!!

Brilliant effort. The AFC Cup was definitely winnable for an A-League club, and you guys have done Australian football proud.

A massive turnaround by your club in the last 18 months, a d its great to see. The little club that could.

Now here’s hoping our semi is one match too much for you

Always happy to see Vuka or Simon celebrating trophies. Congrats to CCM.

From winning last year’s grand final and being runners up in the league?

Probably not the right place for this but does anyone know why there is no non active away option for the second leg of the semi?

Probably too early still, for some reason they might not have released those bays yet. Am sure they’ll get released soon. They might be waiting to see how the demand is before allocating them but I doubt it, just the usual Ticketek incompetence is 99% likely the reason.

They’ve won, what, 3 Premierships and 2 Championships and an AFC Cup. Nothing little about them. Time to take them seriously.

That’s just what they’d want us to do.

I always assumed “little” referred to their membership base (which I freely admit I have no idea what that is), rather than the size of their trophy cabinet.

Not to speak for everyone, but I think most here do see Mariners as serious. Second favourite team in many cases.

It’s literally their whole schtick, oh look at how well we do despite being so poor and unable to afford what the big clubs have…

Not to diminish their success, but they started the small club shit.

Community club, smallest population base, smaller budget for most of their existence.

They are a small club, they’ve just had periods of being incredibly well run and maximising their resources either side of being absolute dogshit. And yeah, only Newy fans are going to begrudge their success, if we can’t win stuff I’d rather CCM or Welly clean up over anyone else.

Bing a big or small club typically isn’t a reflection on your success - except that generally a more successful club will attract more revenue & fans. If you manage to be successful despite having less money or being a less “attractive” proposition for players or sponsors then it’s a greater achievement really.

Well done CCM on a great job!

Particularly annoying they only have Bay 54 in the very corner upstairs open, Bay 53 next to it not yet on sale, Bay 52 further along is Cat B. We really wanna buy in 53!

Yeah I just got in Bay 54… family ticket was about $30 cheaper there… no idea how tightly they’ll enforce actual seating

This is the perspective I feel is important.

No matter how we slice it, most clubs aren’t from Sydney or Melbourne, and we need clubs in smaller markets to work or we can’t expand to ultimately have 16 teams, etc.

So if small clubs (or small markets, more accurately) can work it means the league has a future.
