Yep, that’s all my front yard is. Don’t care, it’s green…

There are no such things as weeds in my lawn. If it is green it is lawn.

Also, lawn is evil.

What are you all on about. The solution is to rip up whatever vegetation covers the area then lay a slab of green concrete. After the concrete has set you place potted citrus trees at various intervals. That’s it, job done and you backyard is always green.

and 73c.

I have Optus Sports on my phone.

I have a telly.

I now have a Chromecast plugged into the telly.

I have google home on my phone.

It wants a Wifi network. I don’t have Wifi.

What do I do?

Get a wifi network ffs

How do I do that without an internet connection ffs?

Set your phone up as the hotspot/personal
Network? Does chrome cast pick that up?

Nah. You can’t hotspot off the phone you’re trying to cast from.

I’m using my work phone atm, which probably isn’t desirable. But I don’t know how the data flow works.

If I need to use a WiFi network I might as well investigate the fetch box and return Google’s data collector.

I fixed this by making my phone the hotspot and work phone the app phone.

Getting wifi is a good shout though.

Work phone is Telstra.

My phone is Optus. App is Optus Sport included in my plan for nowt

Why would you get a Chromecast without having WiFi? Have I missed something? It’s like owning a kettle and not having access to running water

You’re missing the bit where I had no idea I needed another process in place after being told a few times I can chromecast a streaming app from my phone to my TV.

I simply understood as a doohickey that you plugged into your tv and your phone could connect to.

Just get a wifi router. Doesn’t need to be connected to the internet. All it does is it creates the network for you

Yeah, this.

El cheapo wifi router will make a network in your house. internet connection not needed - but devices will be able to talk to each other.

A router that connects to the internet as well is called a modem/router. This is not what you need. Not sure of exact price differences, though.

simple router without a modem will definitely cheaper. Also, how do you not have internet?

I’ve got basic needs. Don’t have a huge appetite for tv so don’t need Netflix etc. What I do need I can cover with my phones.

Actually, I might have an old adsl modem around. Could that Work?

What kind of TV do you have? If you have a Sony (android based) then you could install the Optus app on your TV and do away with the Chromecast altogether. You’d just tether your phone to your TV so that the TV can access the internet.
