I once saw a bird sitting on a disgarded thong about 70nm from land once, that was unexpected.
Tons of whales/dolphins/seals. The previous patrol before I got on the ship had a crocodile swim down the middle of the boat when leaving Cairns. But ‘weirdest’/coolest thing was a hammerhead shark. I was a trainee so was stuck looking out the window, when I thought there was a log floating in the water (see heaps of those). Only once it got close to the bow did I realise it was a hammerhead.
To be fair he was probably utterly mystified by how he ended up stuck suffocating in a giant dry bucket.

I was on the bridge wing of an oil tanker in the Persian Gulf, looked down and there was a giant Ray of some kind swimming around.
So no epic battles between Blue whales and giant squid?
Not that I saw but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Given the depths that giant squid live at I’d say that humans would stand next to no chance of witnessing this fight.
I guess it could explain why giant squid occasionally wash up though.

I’m working on a project at the moment, lots of consultants collaborating a shitload of documentation from structural, civil, hydraulics, electrical, etc.
They’re using a website called “Redhub” for document management. A Bing search gives you a search result with the first result being Redtube, the second is Redhub, and the third is Pornhub. Followed by pages and pages of Pornhub and Redtube pages.
